Medival rockets? Maybe as a medival attack? Could you do two attack animations? One with just arrows, the other with rockets? The problem is that the intent for this is an ancient ship, but I like your idea, and I use Aaglo's two animations on many of his ships as the basis for ancient and medival ships, for example the Mesoamerican Quezalcoatyl Ship Aaglo made, I have the arrow version as a very early medival ship, and the cannon version as the Age of Discovery warship for the Mesoamericans. I don't know how hard animating in Pov Ray is, but in Poser its annoying, so I understand and don't really mind if you just want to do one attack animation.
 
Actually making two insetad of just one attack animations isn't all that hard, especially when the nature of the attack (launching projectiles) is essentially the same. It means the ship moves the same way, faces the same way and the new projectiles can be mostly based on the old ones, with only an alteration on the model, which won't be very hard either.

Easy enough way to get everything in this case is to have two versions and just turn the rocket attack off (using the ini file) for the ancient one.

Work on the next boat begins tomorrow!
 
Yep, I think I can still stick with the original timetable Spacer One

Here's what I got for the next Thai boat, the Reuua, so far. Considering how big this will look compared to the Fune, the next ship's gonna look huge.:D

That is incredible...very nice...as there is no China in my home mod, I see a nice Tibetan unit here...maybe Java too...

one slight suggestion...it looks a little "christmasy" maybe make the red :Richer" and the green "lighter"(on the plus side, its the same color that "Danielson" paints Mr Miagi's fence)...but Im not sure this will be better, IMO there should be gold/yellow highlights or something...

Enought poking, its a great unit, Ill use it whatever color it is...
 
I suspect either the red or green is civ coloration, so it is unlikely to look identical in game.
One thing I've been playing with along those lines is using two very different shades of civ color. For example. it would be possible to have the unit look as cool (I think) if red were veryLIGHT-CivColor and green was veryDARK-CivColor, as the contrast in colors would still be there and the colors would be guarenteed to be complimentary.
I was playing with some ships & planes like this. Not sure if it I like it, but it does look ok.

Those colors were used by the Thai on their ships. Aren't they cool and flamboyant?
 
Well if they are accurate what else can be said...guess they just liked it that way...lets hear it for flashy and bright!!...

For my knowledge, where did the name Reuua come from?
"reuua" - means boat, ship, vessel,??

Yeah, just like with my Fune the red is all civ colouring, I experimented with different shades of the green but none of them looked much better.

Yep, so the flashy colours are staying.
 
Well as you can all tell the Reuua's done, I'm starting the next and last Thai ship, the Khaat (meaning destroyer apparently) tonight, maybe I'll manage to squeeze in a WIP preview.

After the Khaat, I'm going to do one more fictional African ship, and then it's on to your 2 spaceships Spacer One.

PS: Has anyone had problems with the sounds on my Schooner? It's probably just my royally screwed up computer, but I'm getting issues with them.
 
@Spacer One: Yep, those are the units, and I'm very hopeful on keeping that starting date for them.

@the audience: Well it's not much, but here's what I have so far. This thing's gonna be BIG, it's gonna have a superstructure that'll put the Reuua's (which was already considerably large) to shame.:D
