I've been really bored lately, want a new game. Have Civ 4, haven't been playing it much though. Any other good strategy games? Not really interested in RTSs.

What are your tastes?

RTS Games I play and the ones I love-

Rise of Nations
Age of Empire (pick a number)
Command and Conquer (favourite game of all time)
Galactic Civilizations 2

Depends on your tastes, obviously, but here's my favourites that I play as regularly as Civ:

Age of Empires II
Europa Universalis II
Hearts of Iron II
Panzers, Phase 1 and 2
Rome: Total War

Lot's of twos in there :p. All are real-time strategy except Rome: Total War. EU2 and HoI2 are real-time, but given how much you pause the game, check different provinces etc, it's sometimes been described as quasi-turn-based.

you forgot Victoria, the greatest of them all, IMHO, though EU2 comes close :)

Can't wait for EUIII :goodjob:

I do have Victoria but I was never able to get into it on a serious level, which is a shame, as it looks really appealing. I almost managed to break into playing it, but then got distracted by some other game...possibly Battlefield 2.

EUIII though, also can't wait :goodjob:

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic

Probably the closest thing to a sequel to Master of Magic that we have. The first Age of Wonders game was great, too. Didn't play AoW2: The Wizard's Throne though. Shadow Magic is a stand-alone "expansion pack" for AoW2. Been playing it quite a bit lately, and I'm really enjoying it.

There really is a lack of turn-based quality, but would the heroes of might and magic series count? There are some serious issues, but they're still worth hours of devotion.

I'd also reccommend Civ II and Civ III (somehow I assume you've already thought of that).

I know you said you wanted a new game, but try going back to the classics. I sometimes get in the same rut you are in, and I like going back and revisiting my old fav's (a lot of times you realize you aren't as hot as you thought you were!)

Starcraft is a good one
also try KKND (Krush Kill N' Destroy) i think that one is by westwood...

Well, the thing is, I have a lot of the older games already. Both AoEs(who doesn't have them?) Starcraft and Warcraft 3(again, who hasn't at least tried them?) Civ 3, Alpha Centauri was the game that got me interested in Firaxis games, I got RTW the day it was released. Anyway, I've been looking for Hearts of Iron 2, but it seems most stores don't sell it anymore, and I can't buy stuff online having no credit card.
