Overall Strategy Thread

Except two teams already started with Hunting. ;)

I wasn't worried about the barbs. ;)

Other team's spears are not at all a worry.
At this point I'm tempted to say, that's what she said. :mischief:

(Yeah, I know, I probably didn't get enough sleep last night. :p )

But seriously, I wouldn't rely on some teams (especially Amazons and CDZ) not making opportunistic strikes on other teams' mainland cities. Especially if they can see we're defending them all with a single unit type. But we're getting ahead of ourselves here... we won't be expanding to the mainland before turn 50. So we've got plenty of time to figure out who our nearest neighbours are, what our resources are, and adjust our mainland defense strategy as necessary. :)

All I was saying is the Market/Grocer/Bank are not worthless, yes we do have to proritize what we build where I understand that.

Welll we will in ours. I think all our Island cities will be able to do so.

True but I think our capital and second city should have them. In fact we may want to keep track of where a Wall street city should go. I mean if we start doing binary don't we want all the Multipliers we can get?

That would seem logical, but (if I remember correctly, which I hope I do) it turns out that it's better to specialise in either science or gold, rather than trying to make both in the same city.

Yeah, that's correct.

Wall Street needs to either go in a Shrine city or in a Corporation HQ city. It's not really worth it otherwise. But anyway, that's ages down the track. ;)

Unless you're making heavy use of binary, in which case science buildings help on the 100% turns and gold buildings on the 0%.

Right, but you should be having many more turns at 100% than turns at 0%, so on the whole the science buildings are still better to prioritise over the gold buildings unless your economy is particularly bad. ;)

Of course short term the priority is to maximize the end of the slider you spend the most time in. I just like to point out the exceptions to "always" and "never" type statements.

Do we know where the mainland is? Or even if there is a mainland? Sorry, I havent been keeping up with the threads - been too busy lately...

We can see more land to our southeast, and we have a route which a fishing boat can travel through to get there. It's unclear if this is 'mainland' or another island. We also see evidence of coast all along the southern edge of our map, but don't have direct routes to it.

It could either be a series of islands (one between each team), or a star-shaped mainland (with starting islands between the points). That's about the only way of arranging what we can see into a pattern, as far as I can see.

If the latter it would make sense that we've got only one sea connection, as that would be the only way to balance it with an equal number of out-sticking landmasses and civs.

Edit: from this we could infer overall landmass i guess.
