Palace Viewing

Would someone please explain what I need to do to make my civs love me enough to keep on adding to my palace? What are all of the different factors that determine this? Does anyone know what the Maximum number of additions is?

ground
trees
pillars
steps
first floor
second floor
attic thingy
east wing
west wing
east wing second floor
west wing second floor
east wing connector
west wing connector
east wing connector 2 floor
west wing connector 2nd floor
fortifications.

From what I've seen...

-Building (great?)Wonders
-Being in a Golden Age
-WLT*D(seems to affect it more in your capital...)
-Happy citizens in general

Not quite sure aobut it, though.

A lot of times when a bunch of things come together in one turn, I get an improvement. If, for example, five or six city improvements are built in one turn, and a few cities are celebrating WLTKD I will get an improvement occasionally.

Also, is there any reason that a window no longer pops up notifying me that I can improve the palace? It seems that ever since I bumped up to monarch, there are no longer notifications. It's not really a problem, but I'm kind of curious.

Entering a new era can also trigger the palace.

I seem to see it the very first time you sucessfully defend a city agianst another civ (not barbarians).

it seems like random things make upgrades happen.

Also the first city you build.

I have gotten like 5 improvements all in one turn before. I guess everything adds up and you can get multitudes of improvements in one shot.

One time when i destroyed an enemy civ, i got about 6 or 7 improvements, i think victory in combat, and happy citizens influence your palace the most.

Also, when you build Cure For Cancer, Ive always gotten an improvement, or two from that.

i believe the outbreak of war can trigger it, as well as changing governemtns (not positive about either though)

I get it occasionally.. think its a glitch. Just when you think your doing crap and getting no palace built.. you click on the "view palace" and realise theres 3 or 4 additons to be built!

I have never actually had the feeling the palace progress represents how well i am doing in any way remotely.
