Panzar/Bash (2)

I have no particular hope of winning so I guess I'll take the exchange. It's not like my pieces are doing anything useful anyway...

21. Ne2 c5
22. a4 b4
23. b3 Rg8
24. Rd3 Qg7
25. Rg1 Be7
26. Rxd8

If 26. --, Rxd8 then 27. Rd1
And furthermore, if 27. --, Rxd1 then of course 28. Qxd1.

Unless you have something else in mind.

If it wasn't for the fact that your bishop is much better than my knight I would've offered a draw by now...

21. Ne2 c5
22. a4 b4
23. b3 Rg8
24. Rd3 Qg7
25. Rg1 Be7
26. Rxd8 Rxd8
27. Rd1 Bd6
28. Rd3 Qe7
29. Qd2 Kh7
30. g3

Oh, I give you a chance to exchange your Knight on my Bishop. :)

21. Ne2 c5
22. a4 b4
23. b3 Rg8
24. Rd3 Qg7
25. Rg1 Be7
26. Rxd8 Rxd8
27. Rd1 Bd6
28. Rd3 Qe7
29. Qd2 Kh7
30. g3 Qb7

Last attempt by tactical means to get some advantage :). You are right - game is equal & very close to draw. But doesn't close enough yet ;)

Maybe g3 wasn't so good after all... I did consider Ng3 but I didn't like that move very much.

So much for my battery on the d-file. But I believe I can at least keep the pawn. I'll get such active pieces... which is why this is no draw by a long shot. I'm good enough to know why my position is losing, but not quite good enough to avoid the position... apperantely.

31. Re3

If 31. --, f5 then 32. Qc2, or if 31. --, e5 then 32. Qd5 and finally if 31. --, Bc7 (or e7) then Qc2.

Then again, if I know you correctly, you'll throw in another surprise move I did not see.

Yep, I'm afraid, you've just missed my heavy uppercut!

31. Re3 Bxf4
If 32. Qxd8 (do you have any option ;)?) then Bxe3

I'm afraid your position in ruines now - you have only 3 viable option Qxf6 (as attempt for counter-attack); Qd3 (as method for saving e4 pawn) & Kh2 as attempt for escape...
It seems that you have a grim future in all of three variants - I can't kill you immediately, but in all cases I've got very funny endspiel with VERY strong Bishop AND pawn EXTRA vs. weak Knight....

No, of course there's no option to taking your Rook.

I don't see any point in Qd3... how exactly should I counter f5... there's no good way, sooner or later that pawn will go.

Kh2... with the idea of Nf4 and some sort of threat to your King... But I don't see anything you cannot counter.

I'll go with the more materialistic Qxf6.

31. Re3, Bxf4
32. Qxd8, Bxe3
33. Qxf6

I have stopped assuming your moves.

This is obviously lost. I have no useful checks.

31. Re3, Bxf4
32. Qxd8, Bxe3
33. Qxf6, Qxe4+
34. Kh2, Qf5
35. resigns

I must admit when I started playing here, I didn't expect to find myself at last place in the rankings... perhaps not in the top but not dead last as I seem to be heading towards.

Yesterday I joined a chessclub some distance away. The local club has been inactive for some time now... First game I was able to draw a 1975 rated player (granted I had a nasty time handicap at 27 minutes to 3, but he was, I'm told, VERY good at speed chess). Had a completely winning position, but ran out of time. (He was nasty at moving quickly, like half a second per move in the very end.)

So I guess I'm not as completely worthless as I feel when I come here. Thanks for the games. I don't think there's much point in another one since I play so terribly in this form of chess.

aw c'mon.Where's that fighting chess spirit? ;)

First off,you have only played 3 games.2 against Bashkuev, who I can tell you,is a fair bit higher than 1975 and very experienced.Although you should never read too much of ratings as they are often a product of quantity rather than quality.

Correspondence is a very different animal than OTB.Just as tournament vs-active-vs-speed-vs-blitz.You should expect sharp play with long term plans. You are free to consult opening books or even database if you desire.Making a move in correspondence is like doing an in depth analysis of the game. The stronger analyser wins. You should be able to play several hundred points stronger than your OTB rating.

We only have the table for fun.It doesn't really mean anything.

Joining/attending chess club is a very good plan if you want to improve.
