Parrot Mod

A parrot mod is now available.

The parrots replace the Shrunken Head and Carved Shaman Stick.

Because the game will not read from one of the text files if it is inside the 'Custom' folder, the file called 'Text' goes into the 'assets' folder. If you later remove this new 'Text' file, the game text will revert to normal.

The parrots do strange things. They disappear when you enter a tavern. (They fly off to order a round of drinks.) They show off their colorful plumage to impress the Native Chiefs. They have no real game purpose other than to have the Parrot.

Firaxis is working on the Patch. When it comes out, please uninstall the Parrot Mod before installing the Patch. You never know how they will really program the patching operation. Let the Patch work its business, then you can try re-installing the Parrot Mod.

The second version contains Refar's Rank mod from the Addicted to Pirates Forum. (As he posted the changes.)

Unfortunately I only have access to the USA version.

The Pirat-o-pedia file is in the assets folder, Lang??? fpk file.

The file called "Text" is burried in the PAK0-8 fpk files.

All you would need is to find the 2 files in question and text edit them.

You will notice that there are only minor edits to these 2 files. The big edit is to TEXT to get the shrunken head and shaman stick called the parrots.
about 4 lines total (if that many) were changed here.

Plus the 2 for "at cost" (mentioned in the USA Readme file)


FPKpacker from a google search would help accessing the fpk files.

In your inventory with the balanced swords.

In the Pirate-o-pedia under Green Parrot and Colorful Macaw

The message from the bartended seems to be hard-coded in the USA version of the game. It has not been found in any of the text files.

You will continue to get that interesting message.
