Patch incoming

I have never had any problems with the game. Now the patch has installed I have a big problem. When a leader pops up to ask me to join in with a war I choose a reply and nothing happens. It just stays on the leaderhead with all four options as a reply still there. Even pressing escape does nothing. I have left the screen up for a good ten minutes and still no change. Each time I re-start the game the same leader appears with the same request, and the same result when I try to reply. I find this really annoying. Anyone else got the same problem?

Playing the last GOTM right now(standard everything, immortal) and it's really much faster! Really impressive...it takes less than 1 second to wait between turns even if the whole map is almost settled(turn 180+). Just...wow...

And when i loaded the save it took less than 5 seconds...awesome!

I'm speachless!!!

Great job Firaxis!(i'm not dreaming? Did i just said that?)

A lot of good things came with the patch. Speed, graphics, but...

...when visiting screens during the transition between turns, no action can be recorded. I need to exit to main view, before I can do something.

...some hills are plains. Some plains are desert tiles. Which gets me to...

...tile rewards aren't shown for all tiles. Sure, it works when I hover over them in main view, but if I want a general view of them, some tiles just don't load.

Patch wrecked the game I was playing before it automatically installed itself!

Cathy offered me gold for free... or so it seemed. Turns out I was simply not able to view the part of her offer where she was asking for a ridiculous amount in return, so I agreed thinking she was being very nice for some reason.

Now the game won't even load a save file from that game.

I really hope that this patch won't have similar problems with BNW. It could mar the launch and reviews.

It seems to me that they rushed this. This would explain why we didn't even hear about it until it was upon us. Why didn't they just take a bit more time and make it available with BNW or shortly after?

Another 'bug' found: Ethiopian Warriors in my game have the same exact icon over their heads as barbie warrior units.

Confuzzzled me quite a bit for a minute, there.
They're similarly coloured. Maybe your monitor has poor colour reproduction, or you're viewing it off the optimum viewing angle?

Fingers crossed, but I haven't experienced any of the issues people are reporting. Then again, I disabled all mods and haven't been trying to load an old save.

The fast turns and killer AI are very welcome. No more beating off the AI with a single archer or cat while you merrily keep on building that wonder or whatever... you have to be serious about defense.

Con:
Some old saves work, some don't.

Some mods is broken.

Pro:
A fresh game is fanfabolous now.

Short AI turn timers, Minutes of AI thinking is now 30 seconds before it's the players turn again.

Much better attack AI. (I'm pretty sure higher difficulty levels is way harder now, because if the AI attacks it's extremely likely to take your towns.)

The only error I've found so far is an odd little glitch in Hiawata's diplomacy screen. Just been 3 hours in-game with a good swath of mods running, no issues.

Cons:
Cant make minute changes in the city screen while waiting in between turns
Jungle tiles look weird. I liked the old look.

Toss-Up:
Now in the city screen they play those quirky city sounds from Civ 4 (people chatter, animals, bells, etc.)

Pros:
Super Aggresive AI (It could also be negative since both AI capital I captured lacked a worker and had very poorly developed tiles)
Super fast load out
Game is running a lot smoother
No auto annex bug!

All in all, good patch

Bad Patch..

AI need about 20 Seconds for each Round.. just ..

was fine before Patch.

Turns are now lightning fast. Great work Firaxis! :-:goodjob:

The patch seems OK to me...I've noticed a few slight issues, but nothing much....

Although I'm still wondering about the so-called "super-agressive" AI.... I attacked one of Hiawatha's Great Prophets....I had no choice in the circumstances....but I was also in the process of exploring his coast with a Trireme....which was now having to take pot-shots from his cities.... The Trireme was down to its last hit and suddenly Hiawatha made a peace offer which included $300+ and some gold per turn.... Totally unrealistic and unnecessary ...I would have grabbed any peace deal to save my Trireme....

No human would ever have responded the way Hiawatha did....

I play at the Emperor level...

I like the patch over-all, especially since my symptoms, which include pretty much everything that has been listed here, are likely due to the fact that I am playing a "pre-patch" save-game. I know, they "said" it worked with saves, but...

In addition to all (literally) the symptoms others have mentioned, I have had a couple other strange symptoms:
* Shortly after loading my save, I get a notification that my Peace Treaty with The Iroquois has ended and my Peace Treaty with Siam has ended. The only problem is, Siam was not, nor was ever, in my current game.
* I got another notification regarding another AI nation that wasn't in my game. I don't recall what notification is was, but it was pretty funny.
* Each city I founded after loading the save was a ghost - completely invisible.

My game has not crashed once, however.

Anyone really cares for workers waking up when units are in 4 tiles range?
To me that is just a major nuisance. Re-ordering every turn is just annoying especially since most times it's not real danger, and AI rarely steals workers anyways unless they are in their path.
