Called support got through quick so I thought maybe that it was "the magic patch" But I guess there was something that came up and in fact I happened to connect by luck because they are getting slammed. Anyways, they aparently had to remove the patch because of a bug that was found. Not much more details other than that was I able to get out of him. But thats ok. It explains why I couldn't get the patch.

Now about that Q/A department.....

...Oh just noticed the update.

Yep, and I think they are racing to stop it once it became aparent. I can't get into the multimplayer room, or stay logged in for more than 10 seconds now. That used to be the only place I could go in the game. Now it just CTD's. I didn't download the patch yet, but I think they are trying to keep anymore from downloading it.

Same here.

Anyone have any ideas what this bug is? I can't seem to use the world builder anymore but I wouldn't think was it...

If they're making such an effort to stop the patch, I'd imagine it's doing something really scary. For example formatting drive, if run with administrator right ;)

Now we "just" have to wait until they figure out what is happening, make another patch, send it to QA.....

well, rest assured, in 2 or 3 weeks the patch is out :(

I think this patch just surfaced other bugs that were already there. The problem I have with this is, did Q/A even look at it? Honestly, things like this would be first aparent when they immediatly open the program and try to play it on their "test" PC's, if any.

They should give people the option of a "beta patch"
and an reporting bug tool
so if you want to help them to make it better, you send the screenshot/log/save before the bug...

much better than a "QA"

and of course, you download an "beta patch" if you want... unlike they did right now O_o

Better than this Q/A thats for sure. But to be honest, with some of the previous bugs that some were having, I think this would be the kind of beta software we choose not to test until an update, then test it. Overheating, massive disk caching, etc.

SO if this was a beta test, the community would be just waiting for the latest build to test and unfortunatly this build too is buggy. Possibly less buggy, but many of us can't tell because now it crashes more, or is broken in some areas that wont start when clicked.

I myself wasn't able to get the patch in time, but when I did talk to the tech he assured me that the patch does improve loading times and fixes the memory leak, So at least thats good. I didn't get a chance to ask about the map problem. We will have to see when a more stable version comes out.

I played for a few minutes and everything is *much* smoother, but 5 mins is hardly long enough.

Nice to see that the videos play flawlessly now :)

Strange...my performance actually went DOWN with the patch. That, and the random graphical glitches / lockups haven't gone away. Has anybody with random graphical glitches seen the problem improve after the patch?

After the patch, I noticed that the movies now run flawlessly, and there's less gameplay lag, though it's still present in levels too high to be acceptable. My specs are:
3.0 Ghz p4 processor
256mb Nvidia Geforce FX5500 graphics card, overclocked (extra cooling to compensate)
1 GB RAM
So, my computer should be running the game seamlessly.
The crashing is still present too, but now instead of just instantly cutting off to desktop with no warning, I get the "Send Error Report" window. At least this change lets me be certain that the problem lies in the game, not my computer's software.
Oh, and the graphical issue in which all objects disappear and parts of the terrain turns black still remains.

However, I now notice that I'm running the 81.94 Nvidia driver, and now the 81.95 driver is available, so maybe that will help a little bit.

Updated to 81.95 and it's still an issue. Tried downgrading to 40.x just for kicks and no good. On the bright side, I found while messing in my BIOS that I had actually UNDERclocked my RAM. It's pc2100 and it was running at pc1700 speed. :) So I got that fixed and a 50% increase in general performance.

im sorry but this game has to be one of the saddest games ever 2k games should go out of business .they have no concept of what they are doing all those college courses for nothing
