Hey all.
I recently came back to civ and moved the civ4 files from an older computer to an external hard drive. All the games run fine from the hard drive, but I can't get Beyond the Sword to patch up to 3.19. I download the patch to the Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Patch folder on the hard drive and then manually run the .exe file as the administrator, and it says the game successfully patches. But when I enter the multiplayer lobby I still get the download 3.19 prompt. What am I missing?

Hmm, I'm still having problems.

I tried patching to 3.17 then 3.19 by saving and running the patches in the BtS folders on the external hard drive, as well as the temporary files created in the My Games/BtS section.

Here is me patching to 3.17 (Even though the InstallShield Wizard says my BtS is patched up to 3.19)

After that, I run 3.19 successfully

Where to go from here? I'm not opposed to moving the game directly to my hard drive if that will solve the problem, but if there is a way to avoid it I'd like to try it.

When you originally installed the game, did you install it directly to the external hard drive or did you install on your hard drive and move it to the external? If you moved it, it is unlikey to patch correctly as the registry will still think the game is on your internal drive.

Ah I should've known that everything would get tangled up by a simple transfer. Re-installed and patched up fine. For future reference, as long as my initial install is onto an external hard drive, will I be able to patch directly on there?

Thanks so much for your help.
