Paved Roads

Here is a little preview on the progress of the bridge for the asphalt road(seems that that road is more popular) Please I strongly suggest that you post your opinion on this so I know what I should do next. My main question is, Should I make the road on the bridge smaller or the main road larger?Or, Keep it as it is and release it.

In my opinion, you should do both: Make the bridge smaller and the road wider. Maybe you could also make the line in the middle of the road smaller.

Hmm.. well I was thinking that If I made the road wider than It would look strange compared to the railroad.

Asphalt rawks! :)
No man. I know they seem like the same thing but asphalt and rocks are totally different.
:dubious:

Stupid joke, I know... moving on, nothing to see here... :mischief:

I was wondering if the Cement road could be made wider and given a median and 2 lanes in each direction, then it could be a "Highway" and it would become the 3rd level beyond Rail (with infinite movment ofcourse :D )

I willwork on this but no infanite movement, traffic jams are common.
And White, Rabbit that accually made me laugh

The Asphalt road is a US style, other Civilizations would not use that style, (maybe thats why friaxis dont add modern roads into the game, because they would have to make a new road style for every Civilization) maybe for your first other Civ style road you could make a UK one? The concrete one is not Civ specific, as it has no markings on it. Apart from that, it's great! :)

I can understand a having a more modern graphic for roads, but making civ specific styles for roads is just taking it way too far... so far, it's a bit scary :D

That does seem a bit strange, roads are a pretty generic thing. At least in all the dozen or so countries I've been to in my life I never remember seing anything wildly different from what we have here in the US.

Stupid questions: is there a way I can use this road as the modern railroad? I hate how the railroads look and I really like your asphalt road. Also, how is it that there is only one file in your mod, whereas the default routes/roads folder has dozens of files?

It just replaces the graphic of the road skin. If you wanted to peplace railroad skin with this, More files would have to be made

I tried extracting concrete roads to "roads" forlder and asphalt roads in the "railroads" forlder in ...custom assets\arts\terrain\routes... both in the Civ4 and the BTS directories but so far only the concreter roads show up, the railroads remain the same.

Am i doing something wrong? is there a different procedure to replace railorads? or are these graphics not intended to replace railroads at all?

Does this replace the roads by era at all? For instance could I use the regular roads as ancient/classical era roads, the "roman roads" for medieval and renaissance, the concrete for industrial (even though that isn't necessarily accurate) and the paved for modern and future? Or is that not possible.
