I have never opened a map before... do I need to download an editor or something to view this?

No - there's a pic on the first page of the map thread, and from playing on that map, I can tell you that it's definitely fun. Whichever continent you chose is going to be a challenge.

Download it, and put the .biq file in your Conquests/Scenarios directory. You can access the beginning by clicking CivContent in the opening menu of the game and selecting Kal-El's map.

is there a way to look at the whole map without playing it for hours? sorry, i'm a bit of a noob in this area, but I have beat the game on diety.

Yeah - go to your Civilization 3 / conquests directory and look for Civ3ConquestsEdit.exe. Click on the executable. Then on the top left, click on the open folder, then browse to the Scenarios directory. Click on Kal-el, and the map will be revealed in all of it's glory, including resources. Cheating, really, but gives you an idea of what to expect.

If you're not happy with the map, we can just do a random one and go from there.

Best I've done is Monarch, but that was with several other humans. I'd say you probably have an edge on me, since I've forgotten a lot of what I knew about Civ 3, thanks to Civ 4 and a lapse in playing time. Civ4 is a completely different animal, and relearning this stuff is driving me insane.

Wait a minute.

I"m already there. :P

I've played it, so I know a fair bit about where things are, so it wouldn't be unfair for you to have a peek at the map. Maybe it would be better to just make up a random map and go from there?

yeah, I tried a few starts, some are crazy good and others are just ok. Start up a random map with a few comps, pref pangea. I'll take japan. my email is pete6982@gmail.com.
