I'm thinking of running a PBEM game that is a One City Challenge (OCC). Current thoughts on game set up are:
  • No AIs
  • Unlimited Humans
  • Map size dependent on number of humans
  • Era: Modern or Future
  • Advance start - maybe
  • No Uranium on map

We could also play so that each players BFC (big fat cross) is identical.

Any takers? Any comments on options? Any suggestions?

Never played an OCC before, but sounds like fun !
GMT+1 and you probably have my e-mail addy.
And eh... can I play Bismarck ?

well - we are getting closer to starting. lets give it a little more time to see how many we can get. How about we start next Monday?

I think I'll give OCC a shot.

leader=Hannibal
Any chance we could do an ancient start so I could get the full experience of a one city challenge?

Yes, I suppose we could do that - if the others are ok with it. What about unrestricted leaders so we could really get creative with our leader selections?

I would like to play OCC, do you have a room for one more player?

Leader Caesar, Justinian I, Gandi or Random

i agree to all other settings...

Ok, here is what we have so far ...

  • One City Challenge (OCC)
  • 5 players - sounds about right from a speed point of view
  • No AIs
  • Pangaea
  • Balanced Resources
  • Map size dependent on number of humans - but I plan to leave some space for barbarians
  • Raging Barbarians!
  • Era: Ancient
  • No Uranium
  • All victory conditions

Options up for debate ...

  • difficulty?
  • speed (prefer quick or normal)?
  • unrestricted leaders?
  • huts?
  • Events?

I'll try and send round a test game just so we can iron out any technical difficulties (ie wrong dll, etc) some time later today.

Players

In optimum play order ...

  • Ruff GMT-5
  • mikeyia GMT-6
  • thundrio GMT-8
  • mlindert GMT+1
  • patrola_snova GMT-1 <- need email address

difficulty? all levels are ok with me
speed (prefer quick or normal)? with 5 players, normal is ok I guess
unrestricted leaders? Prefer plain leaders (did I already told you I want to play Bismarck :D )
huts? I can live without them, oherwise the "luck factor" is increased.
Events? like huts

Ofcourse this is only my opinion, let's hear what everyone else want.

oh - and what about

tech trading - on or off
tech broking - on or off

I pref tech trading on with no tech broking (ie you can only trade what you research)

I vote for trade trading/broking off (do all the research yourself you lazy B@st%rd ;) )

I understand this but my fear is that a 'tech trading off' game will have almost zero reason to be diplomatic and just become a race to the killer military tech followed by conquest / steam roll.

lets get input from the other players - happy to go either way.

I sent round a trial game - please play your turn (ctrl-enter is the quickest way to end the turn) and forward the save - please post here once you have sent on the game. This isn't the real game - just a trial run to iron out any system bugs / issues that we have.
