Calis replaced Classical Hero
SpiffyKeen replaced Azzaman333

I took Azzaman's suggestion of Monarch plus Agricultural ai:
Maya, Aztecs, Iroquois, Netherlands.

All other settings are normal except for
Restless barbs
SoZ 50%ish increase in build cost, no Ivory
60%
3 settlers, workers, warriors to start
The ai received one fewer workers
20 gold to pay for it all...
ai respawn & sgls are on.

Looking for 4 + 4ai for a huge 60% continents random map.

Looking for minimum 3-4 turns per week, bursts of 1 per day if possible

We could start with 3 settlers - to avoid the slow stuff at the beginning, and even up the chances of dodgy starts. First round warning, then 2 turns to declare a bad start.

Game settings are up for democratic discussion. To start this, let me suggest strawman of Monarchy, Restless/Raging baa-baas.
I understand SoZ should be eliminated, or cost increased and Ivory dependency removed.

I'll play. I'd prefer if it was 70% water though, since there will be a lot of land anyway. Roaming or Restless barbs are good. Monarch vs mainly agri AI or Emperor vs mainly non-agri AI is good. SoZ should cost 250 shields and not require ivory.
 
Sign me up for this one. You know I can't pass up an Epic game. What ever settings are agreed on are ok with me.

I need to research editing the SoZ thing, as I've not done it before.
I need to edit the three settlers.

I'll aim to kick this off tonight UK or tomorrow morning, to give everyone time for further input.

London has been built. A lovely city on the coast and beside a river. :)

The English have found the spot where they will build their second city. So far no signs of any other inhabitants of this land.

OK,

Azza is not happy, and it will be a long game - we hope.

Pending any comments or suggestions, here is another start.
Same settings, this time I locked the Civs as per the first start.

If anyone else is unhappy, let us know.
 
In a parallel universe London is built again. :)
The English are happy with both starting positions.
 
Ainwood at Gotm (via Rik and AlanH) has been kind enough to offer to help with the original map, and investigate the possibility changing Azza's start position.

In case this does not work out (- for whatever reason -) I suggest we continue with the new start , and then take a view when we have further feedback.
 
I think i gps, and am much more pleased with my start loc this time. The last one required a LOT of work from my workers since i was sitting on the edge of the desert and stuck in plains, with a single lake.
