I've only played the Super Nintendo one, and it is the easiest Civilization game to play, or is that just because I have the Super Nintendo mouse and SNES memory card?
Which do you prefer?
Which do you prefer?
I thought it was merely a port? No, they're two different games.
Sure. That's true of most Civ versions. However, Win Civ has more in common with Mac Civ than it does with DOS Civ when it comes to interface. "Bundling" it with the DOS version merely because DOS shares a common lineage with Windows is incorrect. Otherwise, you might as well bundle the DOS version with the Amiga version since the latter determined the VGA color scheme.I thought it was merely a port?
Ie, they are the same game at the core, while the graphics and GUI is different, the rules and algorithms are all the same.
There is none. You press 'B' on your keyboard.I like the DOS version the absoloute best, I don't know why. I haven't tried the SNES version yet, but the DOS version seems to have the most easy to use (and easy to look at) city interface. I can't even find the buy button on the Windows one. Plus, another reason is that I feel like im playing the real deal and not some dumbed down version because its on a console.

Seriously? There is none. You press 'B' on your keyboard.
oh ok, I was merely stating that Windows 3.1 is a WINDOWS operating system, hence the name, developer, publisher, gooey, etc.
It got muddled by that point. Windows 3 had protected mode, virtual memory, driver interfacing, and its own file access routines, all "operating system" features lacking in DOS.Windows 3.1 is not an operating system, it's an user interface running on DOS.
Close. I think most people did some variation ofCD C:/microprose/civ/civ.exe?
C:
CD \MPS\CIV
CIV.EXE
Close. I think most people did some variation ofCode:C: CD \MPS\CIV CIV.EXE
The .exe is superfluous and most people were already on the C: drive, though.
