I'm not much into Sci-fi but I picked Flamand's sci-fi set as well. It just looks so perfect to me. But it was not an easy choice. All the entries are certainly top notch.

Balthasar wow those trees you made their like, the best 3d type Ive seen! Its new radicial aproach in single tree clarity as opposed to a blur of colours made out to represent treeline. This hear is A NEW PRECEDENT IN CIV DEVELOPMENT. Id want coniferous and decidious trees in the same manner. MAkes nice I bet when combined with the new "3d; refinments we are seein in citys, forts, and Goldfools breakthrough resources this year

You get my vote even thought the new irrigation by goldfool pounder is awesome. Love to see the day we have cultural specific irrigation mixed with the already good specific irrigation based on location. Hills should have this type . Did white settelr cultivate up hills like this? ONly hear of east asia doing such. Mybe whites would raise cattle n chickens instead of taming a mountain with crops. Mybe no whites lived in right clmiate to cultivate that way //ANyway..
.MAke for quite a diverse simulation when added with era mining graphics plus strip and underground shaft methods
Those tiny improvements added with other graphic enhanments like say letting modded building show up in arial city view, would make this new civ3 a civ5 in my eyes

I chose the Far East Irrigation, though all the choices are very good.

These ".... of the Year!" competitions are the hardest of the year for the voters.

As remarkable as all the entries here are, this will probably adversely affect the voting for my own submissions, but I'd like to lobby here for a few votes for my steampunk creations, the Lost Worlds Map and the Buildings Set: the Lost Worlds map has five distinct terrains, and the maps of Mars, England and Pellucidar are as accurate as effort and scale would allow. Click on the Link above the map for a closer look if you haven't seen these. The Buildings pack has images for 39 different "buildings" each with two icons. I'm very proud of them, too.
I'm extremely flattered that the South Asian terrain has been getting so many votes (I'm proud of it too) - you should vote for what you like anyway - and I'm not crying about it either; I'm sure everyone put an indecent amount of work into each of these. All I'm hoping to do is encourage everyone to look closely at everything before casting your vote. Thank you for your attention, and good luck to everyone - I'm humbled to have my work considered among such excellent company.

I hope you don't feel too poorly that a couple of your entries didn't get any votes. Any time there is more than one from the same maker it can split up the votes of those who like your work; this would make it look like a very poor showing. If you add all his votes together Balthasar would have won! I think you are lucky that all your votes are concentrated on one of your sets. If you look at the actual numbers there is a 10 (1st) a couple of 9s (2nd) then you and I each got 5 - a tie for 3rd is a very respectable outcome.

PS to all: I don't wish to start any arguments about people's merits or how the poll is run. I wanted to PM this to him, but it is blocked. I felt the message was important enough that he ought to have the chance to see it anyway.

@ Blue Monkey, it doesn't bother be, it's still fun, I think my best work didn't even make it past the monthly's, like other peoples good work didn't make it past the monthly's. One of my annual entries was a walk (no competition) and probably shouldn't have been it the competition anyway.

Maybe there should be some wildcard entries next year that could be nominated and seconded be two people, to show that they would have the potential for at least a couple votes. They would have had to be previoulsy entered it the competition during the year.

Thank you everyone who voted for my creations - and Goldfool should feel pretty good about all of the votes for the South Asian terrain, since, to a large degree, it was his work that made that look good. Thanks Flamand, with whom I proudly share second place , for running these contests this year. Thanks Blue Monkey for inspiration, and a special shout out to Pounder who still has the best graphics collection of any of us.
