Pe-2 Peshka

Yeah... try this link here:

The TBF Avenger animation allows for "fighter-type" single-engine aircraft to shoot it's guns against aircraft, but drop bombs when attacking ground targets.

If you were to use the standard "fighter" animation for a single-engine bomber like the Su-2, it wouldn't drop bombs when attacking ground targets... ergo, if you use the Avenger animation (just include the files with your download), any single-engine bomber you make using that animation will drop bombs on bomb runs!

Coyote has used the same animation to great success with his single-engined bombers.
Well all I have to do is copy my fighter body into his and remove his actual fighter. :p

IIRC, he also managed to successfully edit it so that it would work for a two-engined aircraft on his Mosquito bomber.
Well, we're talking about the Sukhoi Su-2, which is a single-engine bomber, that's a moot point. DK should use the TBF Avenger animation.

As for two-engined aircraft, that's never been a problem for bombers (you use the bomber animation).

What's important is that he modified it to work with two-engined fighters, because if you used a bomber animation with a fighter, the interception sequence is going to look real weird! This was important for things like the Me-110 fighter, and (if someone takes up the challenge) getting a proper P-38 Lighting (which we're still lacking... there's not a single P-38 with the proper animation).

I haven't a clue how that stuff works... you'd know better then me DK, cuz all I know is what animations do what, but I don't know how you attach them to aircraft models.

Anyone tried this one out in game?
I tried bomber anim, and it crashes to desktop...:(

From now on, I would like to suggest (read: demand) that all unit creators TEST THEIR UNITS OUT IN GAME before putting them up here!

dutchking stated he had difficulties with his PC so don't blame him.

Coders have testers, I don't sea why artists will not have testers as well !
They generally don't need one. DK's case is just an anomaly until he can get his PC working again, in which time it would probably be a good idea to have a friend test the units first.
You could always ask Wolfie, or if you are going for greater irony, Gaius.

Well all I have to do is open up sceneviewer because it uses the same graphics engine as Civ, if I open the properties of an object and it crashes then I know it will crash in game. I convert it to its opposite, a tristrips or trishape and that's it.
I can see the shaping of great friendships on the horizon here... ;)
GO and I go way back. ;) Some 20 PM's a day go inbetween our inboxes..

Sorry, haven't been on my computer in a while, I'll upload it around 4 PM tomorrow.

Or if you feel so inclined. :p

Assuming you have Sceneviewer (the 3DsMax Plugins) just open this up, right click on the main hull in the scene graph and click "convert to nitrishape" or "convert to nitristrips" depending on what it is already. Save it and you're done.

Oh, is it this simple? ;) I'll try it as soon as I get home.

Ok, I officially declare this my idiotic move of the day:
- after the first conversion failed, I did convert some other shapes, but this time I copied the nif to Pe-8 dir ...

Anyway, here's the corrected one (it works in-game):

Ok, I tried and converted the main hull - still CTD. Then I converted some other shapes - still CTD.
Can I ask you to correct it, since it seems I cannot?
Beats the ...... out of me.

That's always the problem. If you go into sceneviewer and click the Properties of an object and it crashes that means the game will crash, are you sure you saved it right? If you don't overwrite the exact same file Sceneviewer won't save it correctly. (becomes "file" rather than .nif) And I used the Pe-8 as a base for this one.

Anyway, thanks. *one less thing to do today*

is it only me or there's bug in model?
pe-2 crash my game :(

I think i have seen other people reporting tha bug. Dutchking was going to fix it :mischief:
