Pe-2 Peshka

Thank you Jeelen. :p

Pe stands for Petlyakov that is correct.

No one's got anything to say? :(

The unit looks very good. Perhaps that's why no one has a lot to say...

I would like to know how you added the gloss to it... The mesh is shaded with DefaultShader and does not have a Skin instance... From what i found out so far, it's impossible to make a gloss map work on that...

Oh... If you really-really insist, i could rant a bit about the inefficient use of texture space :p

Since you asked for a comment, I will give one.
Good job on a Russian plane, there are too many Me-109 (Correct?) and FW-109's. Are there any Typhoon subs made? If there are, could you modify it into the Red October.

Well thanks first. :p I used your tutorial somewhat in my process of making it shaded. It can be the default shader because I have a nitextureeffect on the node "bomber". Download it and open it up in nifskope and you can see what I mean. I used White, Rabbit's P-51 as a base when I first made a glossy model. (not his model just the structure)

Thanks for replying. ;) And yes, there are many Messerschmidts. :p I could try to make the Red October, it would be an interesting project for me since I'm accustomed to making airplanes, I may take you up on that.

I was working with the NifViewer so far, and it's no fun - it crashes more often than it does not, when working shaders :(
(Only found out recently how to make the NifScope run on my comuter)

So basicly what you say is, if the parent node has a texture effect attached to it, it will be inherited by the children, even if those meshes do not have the appropriate shader ?
Interesting... Perhaps i should give it another try with NifScope now...

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. :smug:
(but I recommend if you plan on using this technique use this unit or others as a base)

I thought I'd seen a Typhoon, but sifting thru 5 pages of unit threads I only found an Akula (maybe it was a request)...

dutchking, how is this one different from the Pe-8 you did before? (Apart from the nickname, that is.):mischief:

They're different planes...

dutchking, the model on your Pe-2 isn't bad, but the skin could use some work - just look at the picture you just posted. The lines you've got between the pannels are way to black and way to prominent. Make them thinner and shade them to the color of the camo a little bit (instead of straight black) and things will look much better.

I made one a while back yes, still holds the record for most downloaded of my creations last I checked..

I haven't seen anyone make a single FW-109... but there has been a FW-190! ;)

I do agree we have plenty of German fighters though... about time we look into more diverse aircraft... a nice Russian addition would be the Sukhoi Su-2.

I'll try. :p
(got a link?)
Yeah... try this link here:

The TBF Avenger animation allows for "fighter-type" single-engine aircraft to shoot it's guns against aircraft, but drop bombs when attacking ground targets.

If you were to use the standard "fighter" animation for a single-engine bomber like the Su-2, it wouldn't drop bombs when attacking ground targets... ergo, if you use the Avenger animation (just include the files with your download), any single-engine bomber you make using that animation will drop bombs on bomb runs!

Coyote has used the same animation to great success with his single-engined bombers.
