All who say Xen's rocks, say AYE

*Pharaoh raises his hand and says: AYE

All who say we should work off of Xen's tree say YIPEE-YAI-YO!

*Pharaoh raises his hand and says: YIPEE-YAI-YO!

Nice work, Xen!:goodjob:

(P.S. I still think Sparta and Athens need their own trees.)

Note: Spartans have 3 UUs, and I don't think they shoul hafta wait 3 techs in to use 'em...Otherwise, they wouldn't have a military!

I was under ther assumption that the BASIC hoplite woul dbe availible to all the greek civs- and that UUs are simply a unique advanced unit- they are an addition to a civs forces, NOT a replacement of an old unit

Got it!

No, cuz the Spartans had their UUs long before the Peloponnesian War, so they'd hafta start out with those units.:)

that isnt balenced

Really? The Athenians would start with a huge navy, and they'd start the game with Athenian Marines, horsemen, Epheboi, jusyt as the Spartans start with Spartiate and Perioikoi...I'd say that's petty balanced.:undecide: And it's hard to whitewash history.

correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do that, then you dont need a tech tree anymore, do you?

No, since you'd need to have some units come late in the game (Spartan Navy, Siege weapons becoming more prominent, etc.) You make a point, though...Perhaps we'll listen to others' opinions first?:hmm:

half the fun of civ is reaserching, and building up- bu giveing the civs there UUs from the start it takes away from the fun ;)

I suppose all civs' UUs could go into a "Mass Mobilization" tech, but I still prefer...:undecide: Like I said, let's hear others' opinions...If I could post a poll, I would. :undecide:

P.S. No threadjacking, but Xen, it looks like I'm toast in the mafia game...

all depends- if Athens and SParta get custom tech trees, then there units should be included in them ;)

as for the mafia game- not my fault your a poor framed SOB ;P

Might wanna edit that out, Xen, as some of the mafia-goers could see that...Now that wouldn't be any fun, would it?;)

I wholeheartedly agree.:D

like they would come here- but if you quote me, I'm gonna kick you out of the game ;)

anway, I think the theban UU should come in "standard tech tree"

but since most of the techs are going to civ speicic, and only bear a single icon pertec tree, i dont see why it can be stretched into several periods- to represent the differn stages of the war...

I'll agree to that.:D But what does this hafta do with Spartan and Athenian UUs at the beginning of the war?:hmm:

I agree with this, too.:D

in short, nothing, I just dont want be accused of spam :p

I definitively think that Spartan and Perioeci Hoplites* should be available from the start. Sure, it does take out some of the geist of the research game, but frankly, the basics of hoplite warfare didn't change until well after the Peloponnesian War, and then not in directions beneficial to Sparta.

* The phrase 'perioeci hoplites' is bugging me, BTW. We don't say **'Spartans Hoplites', so why the CENSORED the plural nominal form 'perioeci'? Surely one ought to use an adjective like 'perioecian'? (If some classicist could confirm/deny whether perioikianos is acceptable Greek or not, I'd be happy.)

LC summarizes everything I wanted to say but couldn't.:goodjob:
