I'm going to use to the origional races: Humans, Cyborgs, Autocyons (Human essence in a robotic body), Clones, and Mutants, plus another race/ couple of races based on natives.

good news i learned how to mod off of pre-existing info (although i'm still playing, testing and perfecting)
i've tried to create my own civ for a small mod but it won't show up after i've loaded the game and loaded the mod.

I'm think I'm going to keep it as similar as I can to the origional (Which will be hard because I don't have Civ 3) but a little in the future, when the great commonwealth that has kept the galaxy together in peace for many millenia is collapsing. Many political leaders are rising to challenge this great power. You can either play as colonists, trying to balance survival with competition, or on a already developed planet (scenario). I'm going to make it for vanilla Civilization, so more people can play it. BTW, nice robots Woodelf, expect to see them as generic units/Unique units for a lazy, err, advanced human civ.

PS: tell me when you think you want to (and can) help modding, Black Baron. I'm still organizing ideas but I can find something for you to do.

PPS: anyone have a good sci-fi song I can use?

hmmm... ok. i don't know specifics yet but any thing that is/has techno or electronics instrument would be good for sci-fi. just so i know do you want with or without singing (as opposed to something like an instrumental).
ps i have some futuristic techno but it's from ratchet&clank ( i have a good one that is made for war/combat)if you want me to send it to you I'll try although I'm not sure how(if you want info on ratchet & clank goto: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratchet_&_Clank_(series))

Sounds good as long as we aren't breaking any copyright laws by using it. When making a post, go to advanced post and click on the paperclip near the center of the top. That will allow you to upload a file to your post. I think you need it in zip format first. Also I perfer it without words, but a few, simple sayings won't hurt.

there is no existing copy of the music for sale nor do i have any intentions of making a profit from these songs, so i can see no problem if I'm not cut their profits(even if there was its still legal because i own a copy of the games)

the bigest problem i've found is most of the songs are more aggressive then calm or diplomatic

A few "Aggressive" songs might be good for war or even diplomacy with a warlord. I'm working on the tech tree right now so within the next few days I'm going to post it to see how you+anyone else who decides to drop in likes it.

hey, i just had an idea! you know how when you declare war you hear that horn thing, well instead why don't you try using an air raid siren for this expansion/mod.

and if you're looking for some more techno try downloading ngap it allows you to listen to independent made music and you can download for free both ngap and music and its legal

I attached a tech tree I've been working on. It's a little hard to read and requires paint. Black lines are And reqirements, Red are Or Requirements. Alien and Colonist are techs that state your race. First age only. Right now I'm trying to get them into the game without any other techs so that I can play without it crashing on me.
Edit: Sorry I don't think it needs paint. I meant to rename biology with genetics and make shields researchable by colonists
