PH16: Guns Make a Man

Good turns, it is gonna be pure massacre after that.

re: vassal ~ as long as we're continually at war with Asoka (that is, we take cease fire, take vassal, break cease fire all in one turn) then i'm fine with working around the poor mechanics.
I don't think it is possible to do that in one turn. Can you cease fire and then break it all in one turn? May be require two turns?

Another thing to remind people is we are required to win by conquest.

What a crappy 10 turns of War.

Turn 283
As allowed by PH, I completed the following.

Then I did this.

WvOTrade-1.jpg

I couldn't find a Great Healer, I created one with a spare GG laying around out of a HA a couple of turns down the road.

Turn 284
Moved as many troops as possible to the forward line. Healed those as necessary already in front.

Turn 285
Darius wants our only horse. Heck no. We pop an Iron. GH-HA created.
Healer.jpg

Turn 286-288 ZZZ

Turn 289
1 stack healed and heads towards Delhi.

Turn 290
HC wants us to cancel deals with someone. Didn't care who just voted no. GE in Istanbul and put on skip turn duty. We only have 2/6 Universities required for Oxford, however 2 are in queue and 3 libraries as well.

Turn 291
Spy has been evading in Delhi and we have this.
Spy.jpg

Lose 1 trebuchet doing this.
Delhi-2.jpg

Turn 292
AP voting options.
AP-1.jpg

Turn 293
And that's all folks. Two armies have become 1 in Delhi. We need Bombay since it has all the good wonders in it. Luckily Asoka won't capitulate anyways. GE & GG woke up since I didn't know exactly what we wanted to do with them. A galley roamed around along the northern WvO coast and pillaged. We need two workboats.

Reasonably good turns.

Some MMing suggestions:

- Samsum should work on corn to grow.

- There is a few things our workers can do (eg. Susa working on an unimproved grassland, Ankara working on an unimproved hill), and chopping jungles (like the ivory camp).

- Building university in Rotterdam is weird ... wouldn't a lighthouse, trireme, barracks or courthouse be better?

- Whereas, Edirne would do well to have bank/market/grocery

I think we need some more workers.

We should probably also start deploying troops for the next (final war). According to variant, I think we are supposed to declare on the remaining Civs once we conquered (vassalizing is also conquering) the current trio. So, it might good to start deploying forces along Persian borders (esp Bactra) once we get Bombay, and delay capitulating Asoka until we are better deployed for the next war.

FP in Bursa or Konya might be a good idea.

Good luck.

good turns, Dragon. as always, feel free to play more than 10 if the mood strikes ~

war seems to be proceeding apace, and as always, we should heed the Fox ~

this is true. 2nd war starts once Asoka is kissing our feet ~

Did some MM'ing as noted in previous post. One thing I want to note is that our production choice seems like going-though-motion. A few cities are building libraries where things like courthouse and granary would server better.

Anyway, no big deal. It's just prince. I have marked cities for what they should build. Those with "prod" indicates production cities, which should obviously build troops. We can probably switch off research once we get Rifling, and accumulate gold for upgrade.

Since we already have a supermedic, I merged the GG in capitol (making it two MIs).

PH16-AD1375-GGjpg.jpg

I moved our forces towards Bombay. By the way, Dragon, I meant to tell you for a while now: in SG, the usual etiquette is to finish the turn but don't press enter when passing the save on. Meaning most troops should be moved unless there are some decisions the next player should make.

A few turns later, we tore down the defenses, and get us the shiny new city with UoS and SoZ.

Here is what he is offering for peace:

PH16-AD1385-Capitulatejpg.jpg

But as mentioned, we need to move forces towards Persian -Inca and Persian-Babylon borders, so I did not take peace.

By my end turns, our forces reached the respective borders. Once again, the forces are split into two.

PH16-AD1410-forcesjpg.jpg

The northern stack should obviously go for Inca. You can wait for the spy to accumulate enough points to revolt, but I suggest tearing down the defense using more conventional means.

The southern stack can go for Inca or Babylon. No big difference here. Remember station at least one Janissary in the Persian cities to help our vassal protect himself.

So, the next player can capitulate Asoka before pressing enter, and declare on the remaining Civs: Inca, Babylon, and France. Here is Asoka's offer for peace now:

PH16-AD1410-asoka-offerjpg.jpg

Good luck. The game should be over soon. But again, remember to keep track of our land area percentage ... if we win by domination, it is a variant lost.

Whose line turn is it anyway?
love that show, the english version MUCH more than the american...

my fault on the lack of roster posting, but good turns, Fox.

phew ~ i'm gonna need to start another game this weekend at the rate we're going in this one!

i assume you meant we take the Capitulation and declare on the rest when the next player starts, correct? [can't check save right now ~ waiting for leftovers (not salmon) ]

to get around the chance of the dom trigger, we could wait to cap the other three AIs at the same time/turn.

d'oh, looks like i'm up ~ that sinks the plans for NL01 tonight.

made some questionable decisions based on the mantra "It's only prince" :D

it took a good minute or so for all the horns to stop sounding  i traded with our newest vassal:

and, the most questionable of all:
Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

as we didn't have any good wonders on the horizon, i figured no time like the present for a GAge. thanks to such a nice set-up of our armies, i took two cities w/in two turns...

razed them both and forgot pics  but we got another GG
Civ4ScreenShot0008.jpg

this was our 2nd highest shield producer (after delhi) so i figured why not

rifling came in (mil science is in the queue) and i took babylon:
Civ4ScreenShot0012.jpg

kept it so we could upgrade our rifles (we're still running 0 science). and that was that:
Civ4ScreenShot0013.jpg

here's the dom limit:
Civ4ScreenShot0015.jpg

if vassals count as half territory for the dom calculation, we should be okay tkaing HC 's lansds...perhaps razing Pichu to be sure. Here's the situation outsdie there:
Civ4ScreenShot0017.jpg

we have one turn left on our GA...thought we might wnat to revolt, but to what?? free speech, religion? is it worth it this late in the game? i dont' expect to get the game again.

Good turns.

I don't think we need to research further, just keep the gold coming to equip every CR maces with a rifle and the game is won.

We are at 52.9% land, and if we capitulate HC (who has 16% land), we will be at 60.9% (a risky 3% away from domination).

I suggest we start advancing towards France.

tbh, it shouldn't take more than a dozen turns i would think. razing a couple of HC's cities before vassaling him should take care of the territory issue.

otoh, we could push HC to the brink of capitulation, and then take on DeGaulle and HC as vassals on the same turn.

edit: as I mentioned i think, our army in Babylon is ready to be upgraded after it's healed up (maybe 3 turns??). and, i don't really think we need to revolt either, now that i think on it.

The first problem is, we are probably going to face the same problem if we try to vassalize two Civs at one time. It probably is not going to happen. So we can try to vassalize HC and run the danger of LOSING by triggering domination, or we can pillage Inca back to ice age while we concentrate on France (vassal France first, then Inca). Vasslizing HC will work ... we can give one city back to each of Holland, Persia, India to reduce the risk of domination. But that leads us to the next problem ...

Second problem is, France is isolated. We need a Navy ... of which we have NONE. All those coastal cities should stop building whatever silly little buildings they are trying to build, and start pumping out ships. Lots of ships. Tons of ships. Right now.

So nope, it is not going to be over in a dozen turns. No way we can build enough ships and move them to the appropriate loading sites in a dozen turns. Two dozen maybe (if we revolt to UniSuff and start rush-buying).

-

I thought we needed a navy also, but we can get to them on the south side of the mountain diagonally to the NE.

I agree with GF that we give back cities, but I say we vassal HC, immediatley give the citi(es) back, and give back one to Hammy as well. Gandhi's cities are too valuable so I vote to keep all of them.

yeah, her'es the land bridge.
Civ4ScreenShot0000-10.jpg

ideal? no. doable by that aussie Immortal-slaying, HoF-staffer? you betcha!

re: gandhi's cities. not too sure we need their value all that much anymore.
