[BTS] Phoenix Master's question thread

Is there a way to avoid the spy specialist thing? In the late game I have to go to city details and 'hygienize' the specialist situation in most cities every few turns.
No? Micro manage from city details screen? Gets harder when you have 20-30+ cities.

Not really.

What you can do is to set a specialist while to city governor is turned on, and it will prefer that specialist over others, until the cap is reached. This can be done with multiple different specialists.

In the late-ish game when a city is big enough to work most tiles the governor has less room for stupid decisions regarding tiles, so I generally accept this trade-off, except when precision is required.

I personally find the best way to avoid the city governor running infinite spies is to build zero building that enable spy specialists.

Obviously not the best solution in all cases, but "city can no longer use governor automation" is one consideration I have when building Courthouses.

Guys let's be real,

There are 2 main configurations for cities:
1. Trying to win the game (cities are small, the whip is hot) > No governor issue.
2. Game is won (cities are big, specialists occur) > What citizens are doing does not matter too much :o

In late game you generally want to Golden age specialists (right?) so I think it doesn’t matter too much?
I feel like every city running a spy doesn't really affect overall GP generation, which is more a matter of concentrating specialists for the desired type of GP in certain cities.

However, the bottom line is I'm probably overthinking this because the beakers gained from perfect specialist assignment are a fraction of what your empire should be making in the late game.
