I apologize in advance if this violates any forum rules, but, iirc, it does not.

In any event, my situation is as follows. In my dorm, we have an anual tradition wherein each floor decorates itself according to some holiday. For this year, my dorm has selected "Soviet Christmas". I have been charged with organizing decorations, and, apart from ordering a massive purchase of red christmas lights and he writing of slogans such as "In Soviet Russia, Christmas celebrate you" and "Young Workers are the Shock Brigade of the Five Year Plan", as well as the hanging of stockings with names such as "Nikita", "Vladimir", and the such written on them, I decided that it would befit the holiday to have on our walls images such as those that would be found on Soviet Christmas cards.

Here is where you guys come in. What I need are images of soviet leaders or other soviet or communist figures in some sort of holiday position, be it delievering gifts to young children (or to Gulag workers) or simply dressed up or in some sort of snowy scene. I have only two days to get this done. While I cannot offer any tangible rewards, I could give my goodwill or perhaps say something good about you in my sig for a set period of time.

Anyone got anything?

I suppose this won't be of any help ...

Sorry, to busy/lazy to do any real graphic work this side of the weekend.

I don't have a cyrillic font so you'll have to add that yourself if you want any text:

Here's my contribution. From one of your sites. Simple, but I hope it helps.

That's awesome, Pirate.
Thanks! But I'm also quite fond of Crazie Eddie's. The mistletoe is a nice touch. Let us know how the decorations turn out.

I blew up your picture to 200% and am in the process of putting it up on the wall. It has already exhausted my supply of tape, so I am off to buy more.

Here's another one. A bit better I think:

Here's an update:

-- Pirate's image has been blown up to 200% and posted on a stairwell.
-- Crazy Eddie's images have been kept at 100%; 5 copies of each have been printed and will line the other stairwell, in a Lenin-Stalin-Lenin-Stalin pattern.

Judging is in seven hours. Lights are not up yet, but stockings with first names of Soviet leaders are.

Also, if anyone can give me the German for "You are now entering sector two", that would be helpful.

(We're the second floor)

"Sie betreten Sektor 2"

In British usage the floors of a building are numbered starting at zero rather than one. So an American reference to the "second floor" would correspond to a British reference to the "first floor".

This is also true for German, so you would say in German

"Sie betreten den 1. Stock" or "Sie betreten das 1. Stockwerk"

Take what sounds more German to you. :)

Normally, you would only find "Erdgeschoss" - "1. Stock" - "2. Stock" ...

I am proud to report that we won the contest. Pictures will be up eventually.

Awsome work! :D I could help with the language if someone needs help...

Fundamentally flawed!

The Societs did not celebrate christmas! Instead, they celebrated New Year when Father Frost brought presents to children.

There is a Russian fairy tale about Father Frost but I don't know it. This is supposed to be a depiction of him, which I found on RussianLegacy.com - other images depict him in all-blue or all-red. Red might be a western influence on Russian tradition.
