I'm just wondering, i want to do a pirate captain unit, the unit would be able to engage into a saber combat with the chosen leader of a unit (compaign.) like a duel..

I'm just wondering if its possible or is there an option to make it happen.
What i want is a Weak Capt. Unit which would have a stealth attack, and could choose among the enemies, and of course once victorious it would enslave/make the unit surrender..

My best bet would be to make the animation of enemy attack change to a explorer animation (saber.) but i have no idea how to do it.

Any constructive ideas people?

Eventually would be nice to include something like a buff/roar, anything which i could add to a unit to make it weak but SPECIFIC.
 
If you want to use the explorer just open up the folder, find the fortify animation (I don't believe there's an attack anim??) and c'n'p its name into the .INI file where it says attack A and thats it. Note that it might not look the greatest using using the fortify for atk.

I know how to load units, and modify ini files, i'm just wondering if there is a possibility to make a unit use diffrent attack animation while defending against ONE type of unit..

Also as above how do you see such a captain unit challanging the enemy captain and how would you solve the issue.

Secondary yes explorer does have an attack animation, he fights using the saber ~.~

EDIT: Not to open another thread; do you guys know perhaps if there is a possibility to make artillery shoot from the "sea", loaded on a transport?

I tried doing various combinations including the tag of the amphibious flag, but that doesnt seem to work as intended.

I think you have to give the unit (and every other unit you want to be able to use this transport) the "Tactical Missile" flag, and give the transport the "Carries only Tactical Missiles" flag.
 
There is no such thing special reactions / animations based on who the other unit is. The attack is the same no matter if it is another swordsman, troll or tank.
The same is true of all animations. There are quite a few, but they are triggered by your command and the combat results not what the opponent is.
 
Thats a pity, and you forgot about something, if i tick the tactical missile flag it will make my cannon dissapear every time i use it :S, not exacly what i was thinking about..

I wanted to alter the standard bombing of a ship, so it could bombard with the units on the board instead of just 1 time shooting, that would make the ships strenght dependant on the number of the cannons on board..

And concerning my first question;, i asked if its possible to make the captain unit, some way else, if the change animation aint possible, i asked about your ideas to make such a unit.
 
There is a pirate unit somewhere in these forums. You would probably find it somewhere in the downloads database. He looks to a pirate captain. There is also a Jack Sparrow unit on these forums somewhere. That could also be what your looking for. Both of these units have sabre attacks with them. If you can't find them, shoot me your e-mail via PM and I will send them both to you.

Nope. The Cruise Missile flag makes the unit disappear when using it. The Tactical Missile flag is only used for transportation purposes :)
