Pirates!

Pirates! was a great game. It was the first game I ever played on the C64 and I have continued to play it on other platforms. The Amiga version was awesome, but the PC version was almost as good. I still play it sometimes between games of Civ2 and Civ3.

Ahhh...Pirates! How could I forget that game...it was available in a triple action pack with Covert Action and RailRoad Tycoon a long time again...what nostalgia...what fun...You could really see where Sid was planning on going with his games as you look back on it...

Pirates was one of the first games I got for my C64. When I upgraded to an Amiga, I got it again. I did the same when I got my 486 PC. This game is great. After all these years, I still play it in between games of Civilization. It never loses its playabilty, as every games is different, with so many variables.

This game is also good as an educational tool, learning geography around the caribbean. At least thats what I told my parents when they got the C64 version for me.

Pirates Gold! Is fantastic. I still keep my Sega Genesis around to play it. Of course, I haven't touched it in a year since it was too heartbreaking when I was too old (and forced to retire) trying to find my long-lost uncle!

It's been years since I played Pirates!
I had it for my Nintendo. I can't remember if I owned it for my Apple IIGS also, but I did have some Submarine game by Sid Meier for that, lol.

I've been meaning to buy a copy for the PC, I'll get around to it some day!

I heard Sid Meier's Pirates! is a pretty good game. Have you played it?
Be sure! One of my big addictions on the C64. Later I bought it for the Amiga, in some ways it was improved but the atmosphere and in particular the game controls was much better on the C64.

I recently bought the Gold version for PC. I have not tried it yet because my laptop only got a 8 MB video card.

But I fear I'll be disappointed, because I can't recall ever seen a C64 or Amiga game good on PC. Almost all PC games sucked until the mid 90's. The IBM compatible PC's and DOS and later Win95 was hardly capable of anything more than a text editor.

But Pirates Gold for PC seems to be "new", so there's hope.

I had no idea that this game was ported to so many consoles and computers

That is so cool. Now, I am going to be looking for some old cartridges. Wish me good luck on that one.

It's been a while since I've posted at CivFanatics...shame on me  I should show more enthusiasm in the future! May the tradition of Sid Meier live on in Pirates Gold!
