Planetfall

I don't share this experience...it still runs much smoother for me than Fall from Heaven or Legends of Revolution or whatever other mod you could possibly pick. So I'm afraid I wouldn't know what's causing the behaviour you experience.
I'm not sure either. I usually play the Legends of Revolution mod - it runs very smoothly, no noticeable lag. I have a fairly powerful machine, but even so, planetfall runs very slow for me...not at all sure why. It is certainly a very nicely done mod though. I went back and played SMAC and was almost dismayed!

12M has crashed on me! Turn 51. :(

Anyone else had the same experience?

I was playing Peacekeepers, using expansion mode and admittedly doing a lot of world modifying.

I am thinking that for the moment maybe I should go back to 12K, with which I had no problems.

Version 13 of Planetfall, the Alpha Centauri total conversion mod for Civ4 BtS, has been released. This new version will break save games from previous versions.

This new version contains only feature fixes and other minor changes compared to the latest patch. The idea is to upload a main file of which I can be reasonably sure it doesn't have any bugs.

Don't forget to reapply the SMAC fx and voices folder. A new version creates a new mod folder after all.

Changelog:

1. Datalinks text by Pickly.
2. There is now a visual distinction between many worked and unworked terrain improvements, by GeoModder.
3. The Rotor unit gains +40% attack versus the Walker unit.
4. The Psion unit can be transported on Isles of the Deep.
5. The Acolyte unit can be transported on Isles of the Deep (but as a consequence no longer on Submarines).
6. Feature Fix: Hive drones don't consume food.
7. Feature Fix: Concordat signatories gain free Great People points in each base. Amount = Flowering Counter / 20.
8. Feature Fix: the Telepathix Matrix removes anarchy. In addition it also reduces global war weariness by 50% and provides a global +1 Happy.

Nice mod.

Have a quick question though were you planning on adding in the additional races from alien crossfire?

One of the recent patches already added the Consciousness, the Pirates, the Drones and the Data Angels. The Aliens are scheduled to be added in future, while the Planet Cult will only appear with Cha Dawn as 2nd Gaian's leader.

hey, first post here, the mod made me join :)

The mod seems very well done, and thanks very much for making it! You've done an excellent job bringing to life one of the most loved civ games, and it's very impressive indeed. My only concern is that it seems to run slow..very slow. It's not at all surprising to see the game take 2-3 minutes to simulate a turn. Civ IV usually only takes a few seconds, maybe 10 seconds later in the game.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Also, the technology "Ecological Engineering" says that it "enables Enrich atmosphere with oxygen - decrease flowering count" - how do you actually start enriching the atmosphere?

I get the same slow downs on the huge maps - marathon time length. 1-2 minutes waiting for the A.I to finish their turns.

Hey Maniac, this looks awesome, i just recently got civ 4, i didnot got past civ 3 for a very long time :)
i just discoverd ur mod and planing to play it on sunday (dl right now)
as it happenes iam not just a true civfanatic i also got into producing electronic music some years ago. So i wonder if ur interested in some athmospheric home cooked soundtracks :) id love to contribute

tnx for all the effort

I have no idea what electronic atmospheric music sounds like, but I would certainly be interested in finding out. :D It could probably fit for certain factions like the Spartans, Hive, Angels and Consciousness.

As I have previously observed, Maniac, Civilization: Call to Power I had a pleasing musical atmosphere for futuristic cities. The Civ IV "traffic horns" music grates a bit, for me at least, for cities built on Alpha Centauri Prime, but maybe traffic problems are universal? :)

Well, it was just a pointer. I am still grateful to you, as we all are, Maniac, for the constant updates.

Live long and prosper.

I know this is an old bug, but I can't find the post with a solution in it...

When loading, I get the following error:

Failed Loading XML file xml\GlobalDefines.xml

Among an endless stream of bugs. :(

J

Definitely a wrong installation.
GlobalDefines is the first xml file the game looks for when loading a mod.

So bizarre. I installed in the right location... now I have to uninstall everything and re-install.

For someone who doesn't have CD's (digital purchase) it's an extra pain in the butt.

J

Ah, you provided some information ;) : you have a digital purchase. I assume Steam or something. I remember people in the Fall from Heaven forum saying something about Steam causing problems with mods. Unfortunately I cannot remember exactly what the problem and solution was. So my advise would be to download and install Fall from Heaven, and if that doesn't work either, post in the FfH troubleshooting forum, providing information on what version of Civ4 you have, which patch, what you believe is the correct installation location etc. There's more knowhow there on anything that can possibly go wrong. If they provide a solution, please report back here and tell me. That way I can help myself in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Hey there, so i played some yesterday with my friend on lan

we played 256 turns without a break and it just took our brath away.
!!!AAAAWESOOOME!!
i played the university and he choose gaian stepdoughters, large map, Emperor level, Epic speed
