Planting Forest

yet my biggest complaint with features like these is I like to play with different mods and cant use this one at the same time.

See post #52 of that thread. Exerpt-

"got it to work i really like this mod since it doesnt change the dll you can fold into any other mod. huge thanks to rezaf for creating it!"

okay firstly, jungle in india (the original birthplace of the word) means something different, it means something akin to non-managed land..
but going by say the brazillian definition of 'selva'...
the amount of 'hammers' a real jungle can produce is absolutely amazing.
Tropical hardwoods such as mahagony and teak are in huge demand, they have found a wide range of applications, and realistically speaking, the amount of 'wood' available from 1 square kilometre in the tropics must be much higher than available in 1 sq km of temperate climates....certainly the bio-activity is order of magnitudes larger in a tropical rainforest..
if anything, the 'jungle' terrain bonuses are indicative of a euro-centric mentality.
after all people who had newly discovered jungles would find them immediately less useful than their own native forests, but in reality jungles are more likely to provide food and sustenance for someone then a temperate climate forest....
how many times has someone been in a forest and not heard a thing?
go into a jungle/rainforest, and you'll be lucky not to have something trying to slither onto you within a minute..

Big difference between Jungle and Rain Forest. Rain Forest has all kinds of cool trees/animals/plants/rich soil/and whatnot. Jungle is pretty much just scrub bush and vines. It's not eurocentric; it's the accepted geographical definitions. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Apparently the country I live in has 'Rain Forest,' It certainly doesnt look anything like either Brazillian or Indian Jungle pics I've seen...certainly rains alot tho.

Incidentally, adding rainforests is the best way to balance a new Industrious/Philosophical leader. Just give the new civ a UU that creates rainforests instead of chopping forests and jungles for a production bonus. In this case, rainforests are not destroyed by improvements and grant +0.5 health (as a forest does.) It can also be used with forest preserves and lumbermills, and works like forests and jungles with the Woodsman chain of promotions.

As for the OP's question, it would be too unbalanced to be able to plant a forest then chop it for a production bonus. The only way to do this is to create a third type of forested terrain. For example, a worker could plant "woodlands" that can't be chopped for the bonus.

Yet this is exactly what we do in real life.

trees take time to grow

maybe its an idea to have the " plant forest" option, but you only get hammers for chopping it down if it has existed for 200 years or so.

if plant forest is enabled at the same time lumbermills are, it isnt overpowered (since years/turn slow down by that time pretty fast) and it should make for a nice feature.

i havent read the entire thread tbh, so if this has been suggested before i apologize.

Here's my idea. Make the Plant Forest ability for worker only available under Environmentalism. But you also can't chop forests under environmentalism. And if you chop a jungle you get unhappy penalties.

wait, nevermind this mod is useless you can only replant in your BFC
