I've heard that plasma TVs are at risk of burn-in if still image is displayed on the screen for too long. When viewing DVD movies, there are always black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Does this mean that plasma TVs are less fit for movie watching because those black bars would get burnt-in?

Black bars aren't images, they're a lack of image.

Unless the pixels displaying the black bars are turned off, they are displaying image consisting of only uniform black color.

Also, plasma tvs these days have plenty of countermeasures against burn-in. It's not really an issue anymore. An older method was to alternate the pixels at intervals. A kind of distortion that isn't supposed to be detectable by the naked eye.

I use my PC on my Plasma and it burns in occasionally, but it goes away real fast. It's never been much of an issue and occasionally I forget it's on and leave it on for a long time.
