Can't say I'm impressed with the Oblivion Remaster. It looks like a desaturated generic UE5 tech demo that stole FNV's orange filter for some reason. I will be interested to see if modders can save it, though.

Clearly among those with lower standards are the developers. I'm not sure they ever actually played Oblivion. At least not on a color monitor. Not everyone has your sky high standards though.I have seen a lot of people liking the new graphics.
Clearly you have not played Avowed.Modern aesthetic tastes have veered so far into the colorless and soulless.![]()
I have not. Unless Josh Sawyer made it, modern Obsidian games are on my "buy on sale" list. It does seem to have captured the aesthetic of Eora reasonably well, though I miss the more painterly art style of the PoE games--but obviously that works better for isometric than first person.Clearly you have not played Avowed.![]()
My main problem with the original Oblivion is it's terrible character progression system. If they did it right this time, I could by the game some time in the future... I think it's no to bad , capture's the old style really well. Can't say I'm impressed with the Oblivion Remaster. It looks like a desaturated generic UE5 tech demo that stole FNV's orange filter for some reason. I will be interested to see if modders can save it, though.
Original Oblivion was a little oversaturated, but IMO the remake has gone the other way to be excessively undersaturated. The lighting looks really gorgeous, though. If modders can create higher-saturation textures and get rid of the orange filter, I think it looks promising.I think it's no to bad , capture's the old style really well.
Well not yet, since Human players can only be in the Homelands... but it potentially allows AI Distant land players to compete for some of the Exploration Legacies.Reading the patch notes, i do think this was quite a major patch
This bit stood out to me, since it should significantly affect gameplay?
- Dev Note: Homelands and Distant Lands are from each civilization’s perspective, so your Homelands could be Distant Lands to another civilization.

And it looks like they will be able to let Human players start in the Distant Lands in a future update
There was Homelands and Distant Lands but these were set from the player's perspective.I mean how else would it function

how it used to work ... same for everybodyYep I understand, but then how would it work in MP? Whoever is the host?
And this supports my theory that these relatively minor changes just aren't going to turn things around.
