Okay, wow, that was a hell of a session. Played for over three hours.
The unusually long peace has been shattered. Just briefly:
Tabarnak built Apollo Program and starting building parts. I invaded him, swiftly taking Varanasi, his frontier city to the NW, with a mix of modern armor and tanks. Overexcited, we pushed on to Vijay..., where we *nearly* took the city, but ended up losing at least three MA. ouch. Pause, fell back, regrouped.
On the other side of the world, Brenador/Egypt seized the moment to attack me at Satsuma, my NW city. We held him off for several turns, even though the city was taken all the way down by artillery. I had to divert units from reinforcing vs. Tab. He managed to grab the city for part of a turn, and I took it back. Lovely Satsuma went from size 14, to 7, to 3.
Then France / meso entered the war, against Egypt. Egypt quickly sued for peace with me.
Not sure of the order here, but soon enough France also DoWed India, and nuked Vijay, possibly taking out a large number of the defenders that'd been keeping my forces at bay. Tanks / modern armor backed by artillery moved in, and captured the city. At one point a booster rocket was spotted in the city, but it managed to move out to the capital to join the ship.
Not sure if France and Egypt are still at war or not. India and France are, but France has not invaded--just the nuke to try to stop Tabarnak from launching.
That's where we saved it. T says he can still win in 12 turns. We shall see. Looks like there's only one way to stop him.
I tell you this much, T. If you pull it out, you thoroughly deserve the win.
And this is why all the coordination and waiting have been worth it. I don't think I've ever had as much fun playing civ 5. Can't wait till the game is stable enough to handle 6 or more players. Pitboss will be fun too.
okay...need to wind down for sleep now.
Next game time?
Sat / Sun / Mon / Tues / Weds / Thurs
...it could be our last session with this game. Whatever happens, I've had my share of fun tonight.
oh and I don't know if T or anyone else has had time for screen shots, but I'd really like to see a fuller writeup of the kind of detailed postmortems which grace these boards, when all is said and done.
