Playground Mod

Added Boy Destroyer and Night Archer

Boy Destroyer is the Boy Union's ninja. It can detect invisible units, has 2 movement, and it can stealth attack. And it is an offensive unit!

The Night Archer is the UF's ninja. It is invisible, treat all terrain as grassland, has 2 movement, and high offense. But no stealth attack.

Hello people! Just because I was grounded for uber long time does not mean you can all slack off and take a break! We need to get in lots of work to make up for time lost!

Okay, how about we put aside the scenarios for now, and gather everything we'll need for all of them, decide what we like, stick it in the epic game, and call it Playground Mod 2.0? Omega's already got a buncha ideas, and a whole new set of units for each civ.

Ok, let's go.

I was at Las Vegas, and wasn't really doing much at that time, and didn't get anything done.

Okay, one idea I had was making the Barbarians as an unplayable civilization. This would give us stuff to work from with the scenarios, and would represent the barbarian groups that were in the Playground. We'll still keep the Rouge Kids, but change all text stuff so that it says Rouge Kids instead of Barbarians.

Yes, that would be version 2.0. (I need to release 1.1 sometime)

But what about the flag?

Umm, give them really cheap units, and flag the techs as the "civilized" flavor, and then make the barbarians with "barbarian" flavor, and then make the barbarian flavor be against the civilized flavor?

And because they can't research, they can not get much culture buildings.

Well, I want them to be able to research, so they can slowly get stronger units....

We could try making another tech tree for them, but that adds alot of work.... And work is bad....

Well, they can research, just that it takes forever to research.

I'll just make another tech tree then. And I'll make the techs cost a lot, so it'll take a while for them to do things. (sort of like the situation for the Teachers)

So we've got cheap units, low/no unit support, weak units, cheap settlers, but low culture, and so far it's looking something like the situation like EFZI2 zombies.

Well, we really don't want it to be like EFZI2, because the barbarians are supposed to more be an annoyance, not something that threatens to destroy you (Unless you're already weak). How about we just keep unit support the same, and make it so that while their units are cheap, they aren't so cheap that you end up facing unbeatable hordes of them.

Hmm, so their unique government would enable huge unit support, but not unlimited, right?

And their navy and airforce would be almost useless.

Yeah, basically. Except I've been thinking of letting them build pirate ships, and you just can't make pirate ships weak. It would tear a hole in the fabric of the universe.:scared:

But then the pirate ships would be expensive... And that would be going against the whole principal of barbarians! Cheap hordes!

And I've got an idea. How about letting the Barbarians have all of their units be HN, to simmulate that the individual bands of troops have no real centralized leadership. And maybe a few immobile defenders that are used to defend cities, as to stop them from taking your cities in peacetime.

Unfortunatley, due to Political correctness, we would have to use the Nazi Flag for the Barbarians.

I really wanted to use the Vietnamese flag for it, but that would imply that they are barbarians, which I don't want to do.

Yah, but still.... We've got ninjas in the game! We've gotta have pirates too!

Hmm.... Well, knowing the AI, they would go crazy with it, but Omega thinks he has an idea.... We make the early (Around the time most people are in the first age) and late (Around the time most people have reached high school) barbarian units HN, but the others be normal, because during that time in between, the barbarians were sometimes ruled by a single ruler. Plus, it would make it less a hastle mid-game to be constantly attacked by HN units. And it owuld help with that bug where the AI can take cities with HN units....

Why you want to use vietnamese flag?

Ok. Then that would have to be their end game unit, not early game. (their transport would still exist, but cheaper, and earlier.

That would work.

It is a yellow star in a red background. It just looks cool.

Yeah, it does.... But you're right about the political correctness. Still.... You hear that noise? That's the noise of all the people who at one time or another ruled the barbarians. They're coming for you. They're going to kill you for suggesting the use of the Nazi flag for their glorious civilization.;)
