Playground Mod

Bluemofia: Hey, is a bunch of that stuff supposed to be unchecked for the GWC? (a lot of their unique units are unchecked...)

Oh, and BTW, we honestly should re-work some of the unit spawning buildings, cause that essentially overpowers the civ during that time frame.

Omega: Yeah, the auto-producing stuff always seemed a bit much.... Though if we increase the number of turns too much, there won't be any point to them.
And I unchecked alot of the 3rd-4th grade units, as there were too many repetitive ones (Having multiple offensive/defensive units with similar stats and stuff). So made all the ones I've unchecked either be only autoproduced, or be created via enslavement.

Bluemofia: Ah, I see. (I re-checked a few of them, Jedi Master, Battle Droid, something for Char...)

Omega: I unchecked Jedi Master out because GWC already had enough units; battle droid was unchecked because I was trying to simplify the upgrade paths.

Bluemofia: Battle droid unchecked? But that's their first foot soldier...

Omega: Gave them the boy warrior unit as a replacement.

Bluemofia: So... What're we doing with that?

Omega: Battle droid is now a unit enslaved by Mechanical Infantry. Wanted to add more flavor to that unit, and standardize the starting units for boy civs.

Bluemofia: Alright. We're going to have to do something about the Jedis being mass produced. Maybe make the Jedi Temple not make Jedi training grounds that make Jedi Masters, but make Jedi Masters themselves? (and make them a bit stronger or something)

And then the Jedi Training grounds can do something else.

Oh, we can also do something similar with all the other buildings that make hordes of stuff, unless if that stuff inherently sucks. (mass produce battle droids is fine... Change Jedi Training grounds to battle droid factory complete with graphics and such is acceptable)... Read More

For example, the FA air force things might be a twinge overboard with fighter/bomber spawns, so we should probably convert it to simply produce fighters/bombers at its location, and like once every 5 turns or something.

Omega: So we take the wonders that place free unit producing buildings, and change them so that only the wonder produces the units? That would help out quite a lot.
Though what about the Boy Army improvement? Just increase the number of turns to something like 4?

Bluemofia: Yeah, change the wonder so it builds it itself. The individual improvements that are spawned can be either deleted (sometimes horribly annoying to deal with), or changed to do other things.

And I think the Pokemon cards should go out of date significantly later, cause in my games, I never bother to build them, cause it goes obsolete far too soon to be worth it.

Omega: Yeah, I was planning on doing that eventually. I was thinking 6th grade? Possibly give the Char a redundant version of it that never goes obsolete (Use the replace other improvements with this checked to prevent them from getting two pokemon cards per city)

Bluemofia: However, that means Senso can't get pokemon cards due to the Senso recruitment centers having that checked.

Anyways, I'm thinking that we extend it to go obsolete at around the time Char's pokemon versions go away.

Okay, about Senso and Pokemon cards:

Could we give the recruitment centers +1 happiness, so that they have the same effect as pokemon cards? Yesnomaybe?
That or just drop the idea of Char having non-obsoleted pokemons.

I'm thinking that we drop the non-obsolete pokemon cards. The fad goes away, but just takes longer for Char than everyone else.

This thread lives! .....Again! ;) (Evil Dead reference)

And there was much celebrating.
So, here's an idea I was tossing around on how to implement some of those units you mentioned (Such as Captain America). Wanted to know if it would work, or if it was just another of my psycho ramblings before I actually did the work to put it in.
We give Boy Union and Senso techs that go at the same location as Omeganism. For Boy Union, called it something like Conquered State. Allows them to build a small wonder with a name like, "Territory of the Empire", which creates unhappiness, but increases productivity and autoproduces a Freak Auxiliary, a decently powerful unit using the Asian Spearman style graphics (I think there was a graphic like that in the folder you sent me.... If not, we use one of the civ3 ones.) The tech also allows for the building of a Resistor unit, which has hidden nationality and stealth attack, and uses the Captain America anim.
Senso's tech would be something like "Revolution" (Though probably should think of a better name, to avoid confusion with the Rebs). Allows for the construction of small wonders "Freak Rebel Cell", "Boy Rebel Cell", and "Barb Rebel Cell", which would autoproduce Freak Attack style/Boy Union style/Barb style units. Would go obsolete 8th grade.

Whadda think?

Hmm? Are we still continuing to go forwards with battle upgraded leaders? Cause I was thinking to use that one for it.

Sounds nice. Instead of "revolution", how about "Infiltration and Treason"?

Well, for the battle leaders, the Captain America seems to fit better in the last era. Unless we went with having the leaders get a new anim every time they upgraded, but with all the difficulty we had just finding one for each civ, I think that may be a bit too optimistic.

Infiltration and Treason is much better, thanking you.:)

I see.

Anyways, I'll go poke around with the files later on today/tomorrow some more before working on it.

Alright, what do you mean by "Freak Attack style/Boy Union style/Barb style"? Cause if you mean use their trend of units, it'll be difficult finding a decent Boy Union one, as most of the good ones are used up already. The Barbarians is pretty much a bunch of random units, so it's difficult. FA has like 2 left.

Unless if you mean steal graphics, then that's fine.

Also, would these be Hidden Nationality? (And stats? About as strong as normal? Weaker?)

Steal graphics, hidden nationality, not sure whether the stats should be equal to or weaker than the unit we're stealing graphics from (Since they're autoproduced, the AI won't be spamming them, so they could have the same stats, but that may make them a bit powerful. Probably depends on the autoproduction times, in that case)

Well, I did try to alleviate that with the requirement of HW for them to do stuff. But that means the AI are screwed if they get HW early on.

Poke/prod.

The 2.0 mod is fairly "complete" at the moment, with a few known bugs/glitches.

Death Strike and Lego Republic have slight issues with their graphics and leaderhead animations; save before initiating diplomacy with them, or risk the game crashing and losing precious data.

Those are being worked on (eventually), but for now, anyone interested in alpha testing? I've done 3 games in 3 days, and I want a break for a few days.

Huh? Lunch box doesn't go obsolete... It goes obsolete for the teachers though. (They can't use it)
