How can I play a mod in Rome: Total War?

I believe he was asking how and not what.

download it

install it

click the mod shortcut

I clicked the Europa Barbarorum shortcut and all I got was standard Rome Total War.

That's probably a problem installing the mod. Idk about EB, it says you have to have a clean install (no other mods) and I have 2-3 others... so it wouldn't work for me :p

But I also have Fourth Age: TW and Napoleonic: TW and I just click the shortcuts for them and it works.

Might be a problem with the path - it needs to run the EB Script...shouldn't be a problem with the most recent build though :undecide:

You can also have multiple RTW installations (I have five, but I'm a modder and need that many).

EB's not mod-foldered? Really? I'm surprised. I thought all of the major projects were modfoldered by now.

You can either use a mod's installer (mine has one, too), or a lot of mods let you install it manually. For instance, to install my mod, you just unzip the installation, overwrite it with the most recent patch, and then drag the whole thing into your RTW directory. Then all you have to do is follow the shortcut creation instructions and you're done.

M2TW mods are pretty much the same, I think.

What do I do now?

I did a clean install when I added EB. After the install, I copied the entire install to a new folder where I installed EB. That way have an untouched Rome game.

Where exactly did you get stuck? Before or after the download of EB?
