Playing DLC civ online workaround?

Me and a group of friends recently bought civ together to play online.

I thought that the babylon dlc seemed interesting so I bought but was disappointed to find I couldn't play that civ with my friends online.

Is there some work around to allow me to play the dlc with my freinds? Playing the game through emulated LAN perhaps?

No, there's no possibility :/.
If you want to play a MP game with DLC, then every player needs that DLC too :/.

That's... annoying.

Man I would of thought someone would of been bugged by this enough to make a mod of some sort.

You can try this mod if you want to both play Babylon (you'd both have to be using the mod; it's not a case of you being able to use the DLC and your friend being able to use the mod). But there is no mod that allows you to circumvent the restriction requiring all players to have the DLC used in a game, as that would be in breach of the copy-protection.
