well i need some tips on how to manage tech research because AI is so ahead of me in every game i play

lets say im doing fine big army highest culture but at the time i got musket man, others got rifleman and even infantry, so even with bigger army im lost, and reserch take 20+ turns even with every city producing reserch

and also is it normal that computer gets a bonus in the field, lets say knight vs knight in open field without bonuses im attacking and 8 out of 10 i lost

isn't knights famous for charging?

Easiest answer is build more cottages (and work them!!!). Grassland-river and floodplains are good cottage land. Also, try assigning a few scientist. If your :science: slider is low scientists become more important (as most commerce from cottages, trade routes etc then becomes :gold: rather than :science: ).

If you run few scientists try to keep the :science: slider higher than 60% Building research should only be neccessary a short period if you crashed your economy. When you have researched currency, build wealth instead.

When it comes to warfare the computer don't get any hidden bonuses. If select you unit, hold down the right mouse button and hover the mouse over your target you will se the combat odds including modifiers. But sometimes you do get unlucky and loose a lot of those 80%+ battles.

The AI does not get a bonus in the field, but the AI may have other promotions. If you get the flanking promotion and you get attacked it will obviously do you no good. Without any specific screenshots I cannot give you any more specific advice.

It sounds to me like you did not specialise your cities enough. Specialization, without getting into excessive details, it the process of optimizing your cities output while minimizing the effort to do so. In cities with high :commerce: you will want that commerce pay off so you build a library there if your :science: slider is at 100% often or a market if it is at 0% often to get the maximum benefit. In cities that are high in :hammers: you need no libraries in general, at least not for the bonus to :science:. The trick is to get some cities to produce max :commerce: so they need only commerce buildings. It is ok if those cities never build a single military unit. Let the high :hammers: cities build those. If you make every single city a hybrid of :commerce: + :hammers: you will either have to build a lot of buildings to get the most out of both - which is not optimal - or forego the buildings completely - which is also not optimal.

A lot of articles are readily available, and there is also lots of advice to be found on these boards concerning specialization. The war academy on the front page can teach you a lot of good things. Also if you want more advice you might consider posting a saved game and screenshots. That way you can get better advice from people like me who post from their work.

Finally, let me be the first to say welcome to the forums abeztoz:beer:

so if it's possible to win on prince with strategy to build the largest city's and not to specialize, because that's what im doing right now, that was more than enough on noble

The jump from Noble to Prince is a big one. You will have to relearn the game a bit in order to be successful. City specialization is not the only way to win on Prince level. However you have to be doing a lot of things pretty well in order to win without it.

I've won a couple of games on prince without specialisation, but specialisation does make it easier. As they say, the jump from noble to prince is large, I'm guessing prince to monarch is less so because you've started to learn with running at a deficit. One way to get techs is to attack your superior neighbours and trade peace for tech+gold. Then you can heal up your units, reform your stacks, upgrade them and go at them again.

I don't even think you have to specialize every city on prince to win. Out of the first 4-5 cities you have, pick your best cottage city, your best production potential city for units, and your best GP farm (highest food) and specialize those three - the rest of your cities - it's certainly best to specialize, but one powerhouse of each of those three should be enough to carry the day on prince with a reasonable number of workers and modest micro.

1. try to get a Great Spy to steal tech

2. land and land and land, th emore land you have th emore cities you can built and the more cash you generate

more cash = more research

3. if you have a big enough army demand certain techs as tribute.

4. make tech trades.

5. if you manage to built the pyrmiad switch to Rep. it will gie you a increase in research.
