Playing people far away

I have a friend I want to play on the other side of the continent in MP, but we can't figure how to set up a game, we are invisible to each other. Is there a thread that addresses this, I can't find one!

What happens if you invite him? It should work.

You also can be in the same server. Go to download/clouds section and there you can change server you want to be. Sometimes i quit the NY/LA server if no games(especially in the morning) and go to Paris to find games.

You can join a chat room like the one at www.civplayers.com and setup a game that way. Steam lets a player host a game, and lets other players join by clicking the hosts name in the player list and click Join Game. This works via your friends list too.
