I'm a dedicated PC Civ player who has just acquired a Play Station from a bored friend. Now tell me I ain't dreaming it, wasn't Civ II released for the Playstation and if so, is it still available?

it was released. I have it. it's not worth it. It is much easier to scroll around with the mouse on the PC version. plus you can do so much more with the pc version. the only cheat I know of with the playstation version is to rename one of your cities: _CaSh (hold down R1 while typing in the last letter). it gives you 10,000 gold or something like that. no cheat menu. when will these game developers learn to just leave the cheat menus on the games. why make it hard to use cheats?

You should be able to pick up a copy from E-Bay.
I got a copy a few months back for about £8 if I remember right. Not as good as the PC obviously but still worth it.
;)

I have the ps version, its ok but the computer turns take roughly 5 min after you get into the latter portions of the game.

Yep, it was released on playstation, but as always its better on the pc, becuase of mouse and keyboard support, plus you can edit the rules:)

i agree Ben E Gas, all games should have a cheat menu that can be toggled on and off. That way those who want cheats got em, and those who dont wanna cheat can just play the game fair like.

i played civ 2 for snes. it ws befor i knew what i was doing. i kept moving my capital. it was 2000 and the computer had tanks, i still had warriors...it was a bad bad day.

Thanks for your help, have duly visited eBay! I'm intrigued as to how the game works on the PS, possibly the most complicated game to grace this format. Having played CIV III, do you think that would make a worthwhile conversion to PS2? The graphics would certainly be up to PC standards and if everything is done with drop down menus.

i wouldn't buy civ3 for PS2. after buying civ2 for PS, I know they cannot make the game as easy to use as on the PC. The game would be way too slow.

If you've got hours to kill, this is the game for you. Amen.

It takes a while to make your moves, and that doesn't even count the time it takes to contemplate your moves. You could be playing a long time.
