Please help me, so disappointed already :'(

Still cant solve the issue of black water and white terrain, upgraded all drivers already, my video card althoug old can still play with warcraft, soldier front, battlefield etc,
but why I cant play normally in this game, In civilization IV everything was normal, but just cant play here, sometimes even the leaders have no face just floating eyeballs etc,
I downloaded already the latest patch but still no fix, help me anyone. Here is the screenshot of the game

and btw, there are tons of players who experience this and try to google it and you will find so many of us in the web and yet no one can solve it, they all blame it on the videocard, is there another way to fix this? can firaxis find a way to fix this ? I know they knew about this issue but why arent they helping us ? can they release some patch for the fix? we love civ so much that's why we are playing it, so please help us firaxis :suicide::suicide:
and please admin if you cant help us you can admit it that there is no solution so we will not wait for answers for so long,please please please

If people have an answer to your question, they'll post it... posting and saying stuff like "why has no one posted" doesn't really help and just annoys people who might have an answer. You posted this yesterday. The Colonization forums (save the modding forum) are not too frequented.


Anyway: I would suggest updating your video card. Civilization IV Colonization requires a better system then Civilization IV. Dale says:

Just because you can run Civ4 doesn't mean Col2 will run fine. Col2 has a much updated graphics engine, and as such your card which was minimum for Civ4, is under for Col2.

A GeForce4 MX is underspec for Col. Sorry mate. Just take your PC to a local computer shop and ask 'em what you need. You should get a card you can play Col for about $60-80.

jhakhohbhy, I looked at your screencaptures, especially the one for the DirectX infos for your video card. Dale is correct, you need a better video card. your geforce mx 4000 is below the minimum standard for the game.

I installed col in my new Dell Laptop and it works perfectly fine, its my video card I guess, I played with it already and find out that civ 1V is far more superior that col, much much better than col, so I guess I have to play Civ 4 much often then its latest expansions.

dont upgrade your old desktop if its using an MX4000 that puts you on an AGP socket 478 with DDR1 its a dead end upgrade platform, your better suited selling it to some grandmother to check for email on and getting a newer updated comp.

4gb DDR3
Geforce GTS250

Cost was about 500 for it plus the extra stuff but its worth it over upgraded a dead end

grrrrr just bought a 24 inch lcd monitor for my pc, i waste such money thinking I could still upgrade my pc, ty candle now I know there is no chance of upgrading my pc anymore, but I guess no one would buy my pc.... what will I do, hayssss.. :'(

Don't listen to anyone who tells you to dump your computer. Hit up Craigslist or Kijiji. Buy a Radeon 9700 or higher video card. You will be able to find these video cards for like $15-30.

I quit PC gaming for years and just recently came back. I had a system similar to yours. I spent a very small amount of money buying the fastest P4 I could support and a Radeon 9800 Pro from Kijiji and I can play anything that doesn't require Shader Model 3.0 with no problem. I was amazed at how people are virtually giving away this perfectly usable hardware.
