Please tell me what Civ2 software is what.....

Hi, I went to PC World today to buy some games.

I was overhwelmed with choice. The sales staff were not very helpful (no change there then!).

I saw lots of Civ addons/games/clones but I couldnt figure out what was what and did not want to buy what I thought was a mod pack only to be disaapointed later. so bought something different entirely.

Civ 2 I have;

What expansion packs are there?

Call of Time : is that s seperate game?<br />Fantsatic Worlds?

are there 'scenario packs?'

Call to Power is that pre or post Civ 2? etc etc

basically I am overwhelemd with choice, I guess what I need is a list of Civtype games in CHRONOLOGICAL order. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Call To Power is one of the inferior (Activision) versions of Civilization. Wait for Civilization 3 coming out next month.

There is:-<br />Civ2 Classic (version 2.42)<br />Civ2 Conflicts in Civ Scenario CD (ver 2.62)<br />Civ2 Fantastic Worlds Scenario CD (ver 2.78)<br />Civ2 Ultimate Collection (ver 5.3)Europe release<br />Civ2 Multiplayer Gold (ver 5.4) which includes all above scenarios and is final Civ2 update. There is a patch in the download section that can upgrade your Civ2 to latest version but does not include scenarios.

Civ2 Test of Time is really a separate version and has 4 maps. (verson 1.1)

<br />Civ Call to Power 1 is a clone from a different company. They followed it with Call to Power 2.

I just bough Fantasy Worlds today!

It cost £6.99 and i got another title free.

I chose AGFA photo album , which contained 2x35ml films as well

Civ2 Conflicts in Civ Scenario CD (ver 2.62) and Civ2 Fantastic Worlds Scenario CD (ver 2.78)
both require Civ 2.42 to install. They are not stand alone products. All of the other products mentioned are stand alone.

Its okay I already have Civ II and I installed F.Worlds succesfully.

I agree with RMSHARPE, Call to power was a terrible release. It seemed like a grab for money based on the great reputaion of the Civ series. Although I read a review of Call to power 2 which said it was vastly improved over the first version. The article said " Call to power II, is what call the power I should have been." I disliked Call to Power I, so much I was not about to waste any money on call to power II. The really screwed the pooch with the first version.

I have already posted this message in a couple of other threads, I just want civers to know(that dont have it or need another copy) you can buy Civ II MPG at walmart for 6.99. Thats an incredible deal for such an awsome game. Look in the section of older games that come in a cd case only.
