--Pokemon Game Thread--

Hey arronax, how long have you been using my post to Slim in your sig? Anyways, I've been recently playing Emerald, just got the the third city, the one with your dad's gym. I really want to get a Shedinja, definitely one of my favorite pokemon.

My team (All Lv 60, balanced to play on Pokemon Colleseum)

Manectric (Male) Lv 60
Electric Type
Ability: Static (Paraalyzes on contact.)
Item: Quick Claw
HP: 174
Att: 123
Def: 103
Sp Att: 156
Sp Def: 80
Speed: 155
LAX nature, caught at lv 13.

Moves:
1) Quick Attack, 30 PP (Normal)
2) Iron Tail, 15 PP (Steel)
3) Double Team, 15 PP (Normal)
4) Thunder, 10 PP (Electric)

Manny is my sonic buster, with Double Team making him a frustering target to defeat. Iron Tail should negate rock/ground types if cornered. He SHOULD attack first most of the time, especially with that Quick Claw at hand.

Aggron (Female) Lv 60
Steel/Rock Type
Ability: Sturdy (Negates 1-hit KO attacks.)
Item: X Attack
HP: 182
Att: 152
Def: 260
Sp Att: 103
Sp Def: 80
Speed: 94
LAX nature, caught at lv 9.

Moves:
1) Iron Tail, 15 PP (Steel)
2) Protect, 10 PP (Normal)
3) Thunder, 10 PP (Electric)
4) Earthquake, 10 PP (Ground)

I perfer steel types over rock types because they have more resistance to more a wider range of move types. Most of her moves are identical to Manectric's, but with a very high defense and Protect, she will be difficult to put down in one try. I would use him for a anti-OHKO opponent move like Krabby/Kingler's Guillotine.

Ludicolo (Female) Lv 60
Water/Grass Type
Ability: Swift Swim (Raises SPEED in the rain.)
Item: Mystic Water
HP: 187
Att: 105
Def: 107
Sp Att: 127
Sp Def: 146
Speed: 117
QUIRKY nature, caught at lv 3.

Moves:
1) Giga Drain, 5 PP (Grass)
2) Ice Beam, 10 PP (Ice)
3) Nature Power, 20 PP (Normal)
4) Surf, 15 PP (Water)

Ludicolo is quick, very powerful, and has a versitile array of moves in her arsenal, which is good, because it takes full advantage of her very high SP ATT. If all else fails, she can use Nature Power to even more widen her move base. The only downside to Ludicolo is she runs out of stamina mighty quick, meaning she must OHKO her opponent, otherwise run out of moves to use.

Mightyena (Male) Lv 60
Dark Type
Ability: Intimidate (Lowers the foe's ATTACK.)
Item: Blackglasses
HP: 190
Att: 117
Def: 109
Sp Att: 87
Sp Def: 92
Speed: 106
CALM nature, caught at lv 2.

Moves:
1) Shadow Ball, 15 PP (Ghost)
2) Torment, 15 PP (Dark)
3) Dig, 20 PP (Ground)
4) Crunch, 15 PP (Dark)

Ah. My first catch. Mightyena uses Dig to negate ground types, and his up-yours Torment move could backfire, if your strategy involves alternating moves. Otherwise, this wolf Pokemon is pretty much straight forward a pure attacker (I couldn't resist; Wolves are my favorite animal). Crunch has been enhanced by those Blackglasses, though it shouldn't pack that much of a punch.

Blaziken (Female) Lv 60
Fire/Fighting Type
Ability: Blaze (Ups FIRE moves in a pinch.)
Item: Macho Brace
HP: 206
Att: 159
Def: 97
Sp Att: 147
Sp Def: 111
Speed: 140
HASTY nature, met at lv 5.

Moves:
1) Mirror Move, 20 PP (Flying)
2) Rock Tomb, 15 PP (Rock)
3) Blaze Kick, 10 PP (Fire)
4) Sky Uppercut, 15 PP (Fighting)

Another pure fighter, uses Mirror to negate ground types, and Rock Tomb to negate Psychic types, there isn't much to be said with this quiet movelist. I would watch out for her Macho Brace/Sky Uppercut item/move combo. She could pack a punch (no pun intended) with such a synergy.

Salmence (Female) Lv 60
Dragon/FlyingType
Ability: Intimidate (Lowers the foe's ATTACK.)
Item: White Herb
HP: 200
Att: 165
Def: 134
Sp Att: 158
Sp Def: 125
Speed: 146
QUIRKY nature, met at lv 30.

Moves:
1) Earthquake, 10 PP (Ground)
2) Dragon Claw, 10 PP (Dragon)
3) Fly, 15 PP (Flying)
4) Fire Blast, 5 PP (Fire)

My last Pokemon on the list, my last Pokemon caught, and she was the hardest to level as well, but in my opinion, she is also my strongest Pokemon. Uses Earthquake/Fire Blast to negate Ice types. Simular to Ludicolo, she uses very powerful, energy burning moves, if not to take her foe out in a few turns, she will be stuck, but as a Dragon type, I can rely on her stats to carry her through.

I am proud to say that I have at least one move type per respective Pokemon on this list. They aren't nearly as strong as my legendary Jhoto Pokemon (Pokemon Silver), but they have thier share of titles at hand. In the Emerald version, I have beaten the Elite 4 (twice), and still reign an undefeated 57-0 (with all gold tokens on every event) in the Battle Frontier. I'm talking about trainers with the same level (in this case, Lv 60) as mine.

I am against using ANY Legendary Pokemon, and most Frontier events negate using them. But it dosen't look like I need them with such a powerful team of mine.

Sorry, I have no pictures, I play it on the REAL GBA, and GCN, and not on an emulator, so I don't know how to get a picture of my Pokemon in action (unless use a webcam/digital camera).

That's pretty much it.

I just beat the elite four on Yellow. My team:

Blastoise - Level 56
Zapdos - Level 58
Kadabra - Level 55
Primeape - Level 53
Charizard - Level 55
Articuno - Level 54

The elite four was surprisingly easy for me. My Kadabra isn't an Alakazam simply because no one owns a GBA/GB for me to trade back and forth for. I just caught the Mewtwo, I'll probably replace my Kadabra with him. Now the quest to catch 'em all - and find my old GBA SP - begins...

Current status of Normal-type monotype team:

STARDUST - Linoone - Lvl 26
JUNG - Vigoroth - Lvl 26
MILLICENT - Swellow - Lvl 27
BRIAN - Loudred - Lvl 26
TRIXIE - Skitty - Lvl 26
CLAUDIA - Spinda - Lvl 26 (named after Claudia Winkleman)

Currently dithering about outside the fifth gym, because I can't think of a good way to beat Norman's Slaking (don't they have Focus Punch? not looking forward to that)

Norman's Slaking has Facade for sure, not sure about Focus Punch though.

Teach a Pokemon Protect and wear down at Slaking every other turn?

Skitty and Spinda are interesting. Are there not better Normal types out there?

There is Zangoose, Exploud, Dodrio that are good normals.

Don't think I can get TM Protect until Lilycove... I do have TM Dig though and some of my Pokes can learn it, so that's a possibility.

The problem with Focus Punch is that normally (hur hur), I'd just try wearing the Slaking's attack and defence down with Skitty (Attract/Charm/Tailwhip/Doubleslap) but one Focus Punch from a Lvl 30+ Slaking will probably erase Skitty from existence, Charm or no Charm.

These are, as far as I know, the only six normal-types available to me by this point in the game (apart from Swablu, but I'm not going to use an unevolved Normal/Flying type when I've already got an evolved one; possibly Azurill too but I think you need one of those incenses for that?).

Doduo only lives in the Safari Zone; I'm playing Sapphire, so no Zangoose; and Exploud evolves from Loudred, which is on my team.

(Besides, Skitty's been instrumental in defeating both Roxanne and Wattson, and Spinda embarrassed Archie's Golbat, so they're both awesome really. :D)

You could get your own Slaking?

Train Jung all the way to Level 36, by pummelling wild Volbeat and Roselia? I don't have the patience for that.

Or TM a fighting move?

Loudred was taught Rock Smash a while ago to deal with Wattson, although that does piddling damage. Suppose that might work here, actually: Rock Smash on the turns where Slaking attacks, to prevent Focus Punch, and Howl/Super Potion on the loafing turn. Then just take out his Vigoroth with pure power, probably from Millicent the Swellow. Hmm...

(Apparently it's only the second Slaking that's based around Focus Punch. The first one uses Yawn, which will be extremely annoying and I will probably have to use Vigoroth, with its Insomnia, just to retain my own sanity.)

I finally found my SP! Now I can evolve my Kadabra as soon as I return to the dorms!!

sup pokéfags.

anyone ever caught any shiny pokémons? i caught a shiny giraffarig in my old crystal version and i got a shiny spinda while ev training in emerald. hows about youse?

:rudolf:

Since you first posted it. It made me laugh alot so I sigged it.

I have a shiny Alakazam, that guy is fun, esp when baton passed spatk boosts. OHKO'ed my friends Dialga in a L100 battle, it was a critical hit, but still. His other 4 dropped in one hit as well.

Speed and special attack is really all you need if you can regularly kill in one hit. Recover is not so good on him though, as its pretty rare that he would get hit for less than half his life.

Does anybody here like or prefer using legendary Pokemon?

I don't. I kinda think that using Legendary Pokemon is like cheating. These Pokemon are designed to be extremely strong in a certain aspect which makes it easier to fight battles/train then regular Pokemon.

I have no issues with using a Legendary pokemon to defeat the Pokemon league, or as a way to train my other pokemon. The Battle Towers don't let you use them anyway.
