Ok, the idea seems to have caught the attention of quite a few players. So let's choose an underused civ for the first GOTM

Based on the poll from Chandrasekhar, the least popular civ are:
1) Khazad : gold loving dwarves
2) Hippus : horse unit gallore
3) Clan of Embers : civilized barbarian

Pick one of the above civ and lets see what the community can achieve with it.

I will use the following game settings unless there is a general consensus to change one of them:
1) Map size: standard
2) Speed: normal
3) 7 AI Civ: random, except for the arch-nemesis of the civ we'll play with
4) Map: plains
5) Difficulty: prince

Plains is an interesting challenge because the AI do not handle water map very well, IMHO. With this map, there is always a way for the AI to figure out a land path to your territory in order to attack you :)

UPDATE: Game is up here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=193439

I picked hippus since I've never played them. I've done random civs for a bunch of games, and had a chance to play as most other civs, and since we want to go for something uncommon, I chose the one I'd never played as.

The game creator would upload a save at turn one. Then, you would load the save and play just like any other single player game, just with a few rules. No reloading being the most important. If you make a bad decision, then take it like a man (or woman) and move on. I've never actually finished a GOTM for VanillaCiv before, but that's because I suck, and stick to the no reload rule. Then, once you win, you upload your final save, talk about what you did, and awards will be given accordingly (either on fastest time or score, normally).

A game of democracy? Well, there is, but it hasn't been discussed at all. I for one never found that ideal very interesting. But, if you were motivated, maybe you could make a thread to discuss that option?

Back on topic:
It looks like the clan is going to win. But, we have no reason that people chose clan... For those of you that did, care to explain your reasons?

I chose clan because of almost all the times I reload/WB cheat are because of barbs. If Orthus spawns near your boarders and you haven't been planning for it you're screwed. Same with the Ship. Even if you do plan you're still scrwed sometimes.

I got bad luck whith my runes holy city:
First dirge came and took it (the skeletons has spawn well this game) then orthus spawn and take the defence and then the dragon came there too.
Now i got one dirge spawn mean skeletons all time and a orthus attacking and pillaging all time so i had to reasearch nearly all religon and discovered that rosier the fallen could easily take him!
So I researched infernal pact and build rosier and whaited for him to get his hero promotion well!
Then i attacked orthus and died!
But orthus hasn't got any life so i killed him whith my warrior and he got deam much xp!
But now i still got the lair in my holy city

I voted Embers because I want to see how they play out on a smaller map size. I usually play marathon on extra-huge maps. I am a builder at heart and love a slow steady expansion and the Clan allows for that (until the barbs think your too advanced for them and declare on you). I'd lile to see how everyone else does with them too.
