Which is your favourite character trait and why? I personally can't stop using the industrious trait, building faster wonders just seems so good to me because I like to spam great people and just generally like a lot of the wonder bonuses.

spiritual for me. after i used it the first time i began to hate that one round of anarchy to change to slavery :)

oooh another favourite trait thread. they grow like weed

Well, I just wanna know why people choose the leader's traits that they choose really. I find it hard to choose anything other than Huayna Capac and Roosevelt because I don't really see the advantage of some traits, such as expansive, I tried expensive once and it didn't seem to affect my game at all.

Thats because you always play the same way. I think you rarely ever war so why would Aggressive be of any use to you? Of course Industrious is because you go wonderwhore. So most of the traits are useless to you.

Here is a thread with the same topic, opened two days ago...

Great to see this thread as a compliment to the other thread Mystyfly linked to. I voted for spiritual as well, because I enjoy taking advantage of various civic and religions throughout the game for economic, military and diplomatic reasons.

Atm its charismatic closely followed by spiritual and philosophical

I've found Expansive quite useful when maxing my cities growth. +2 Health and more health bonuses from cheap granaries and harbours allows large cities early in the game especially combined with another trait or UB that helps with happiness. Playing as the Khmers with cheap theatres and colosseums from Creative works for this. Is it the best trait? Probably not but it can have its uses if you adapt your strategy to use it.

I voted industrious, those cheap early forges (MC slingshot) are tough to pass up. Org would be a close second.

Had to weigh in and vote aggressive. Cheap barracks and easy, free promotions enhance the early rush. While I've learned that early rushing isn't always practical compared to other tactics if opponents spawn far away, the ability to do so with extra oomph is just fun. Massed city raider axes are easy to produce!

A lot of traits have synergy with warmongering...organized, charismatic, protective (tokugawa has godly gunpowder units), imperialistic, financial, etc. Maybe all of them do to an extent (industrious has cheap forges after all). I don't have BTS, but i'm pretty sure there's no aggressive/organized in warlords, which is probably good. I might ONLY play that civ :/.

Financial. It's boring and straightforward, but it's a solid economic boost throughout the game. It supports early expansion before Organised really kicks in, and I prefer going to war with a tech advantage to going to war with one more promotion or two.

A close second is Industrious. Yes, I am a wonder whore.

Charismatic is useful from 1. (OK, from turn whenever you get to happy cap -1.) Another free happy cap from monuments, and you've got large early cities, which is great.

The military advantage of Charismatic is just gravy to me; but I hate war. I like the large cities better.

Man how many times can people quote DaveMcW, any thread that talks about cottages or financial is sure to have him come up... spiritual and creative I love.

Creative for the Cheap Border Pops

I'm just not a fan of Spiritual because it requires such a completely different playstyle. I never look at my civic screen so its of little use.

I always liked spiritual and philo but ive been playing some random civs (which learned me quite a bit) the last couple of weeks and am really liking expansive .

All you need to get is bw and pottery , whip a early granery asap in the cap and at size 4-5 whip settlers for 2 pop every time , if the whipping anger gets to bad just build some workers which are also produced faster.
You dont need to worry about health aswell so you can chop all the forests without getting unhealthy citizens.

Imperialistic is also quite fun , this time you just chop your settlers while building army/wonders.

Makes me smile to see Organized with a big fat goose egg.

What a horrible trait.
