I'm hearing from various sources that a new feature of Civ VII will be a form of "diplomatic influence" resource.

You require it to denounce your opponents but you also use it for city states and apparently even to choose the responses in dialogue (so a harsh response costs a little more influence)

What are your thoughts?

I haven't liked it in other 4X games that have it (particularly Amplitude's--and unlike Humankind, Endless Space 2 and Endless Legends are actually good games) so I'm leery of it here, though otherwise diplomacy looks intriguing.

It appears to be an improved rework of Civ6's diplomatic favors and influence points. At first, I like it.

Work in progress. We'll see. I probably won't like it any more or less than the other ways they have tackled diplomacy.

I didn't mind it in Endless Space 2, though their influence also served as culture. I'm curious to see how you will generate influence in civ 7

in order to make diplomacy more relevant and balance it , they tied it to a resource. could work as long as you get something for your efforts in the diplomatic arena. for the previous iterations 5-6 , i pretty much ignored that part apart from selling stuff for some cash to upgrade my units to the latest tech

Civ 7 seem to be built with multiplayer in mind. Things like ages and more equal tile output are clearly there. So, since diplomacy usually was very weak part for multiplayer, it was reasonable to expect some diplomatic revamp. Influence system is not bad and looks much better for multiplayer games.

So far I like what I have seen.

Seems to be less systems but they affect more things. Civ 6 started to get bloated
