poor resolution on domestic advisor screen

I recently purchased a new Dell P4, 1 Gb RAM, Raedon x300 viedo card.

On civ3 conquests, I get a horrible blurry pink/purple font on the domestic advisor screen. All the other screens are fine, and all other programs I've used are fine.

Any ideas what might cause this?
Or how to manually change the font on the advisor screen?
I've already tried the uninstall, reinstall, doesn't help.

ClearType makes the text 'smoother'. By default it is off, but check if it is on by doing the following:

1. Right click on the desktop, select "Properties".
2. Select the Appearance tab.
3. Hit the "Effects" button.
4. Under "Use the following methods to smooth edges of screen fonts", make sure you have Standard selected and the checkbox selected.
