This is about a feeling that most portuguese (not me...) people has that "Port is so small and unrelevant"

(in fact Port ppl and leaders are the most criticized, but most of them would require some knowledge...)

Portugal is a poor country (relatively, for Europe) so they have good newspapers.

A rich country like the US can't afford good newspapers, there are too many other things to do than read a newspaper. So we get the fishwrap available here.
