Since we have become partners with Gong, what would the team think of gifting all our cities to them? They would still have to deal with SABER's turtling up, but they'd be in a much stronger position by turning our lands into science farms.

I don't know if we can gift our capital, but if they can get a boat to us, we can allow them to "conquer" our capital, then they could turtle up to research in peace, perhaps making an alliance with SABER (though I hate seeing SABER reap any benefit from this.)

Team thoughts on this? Is it against any game rules?

I think this is a little crazy as it would spoil the whole game...but if we do that, we could also make sure they get all our workers as slaves...

No, in line with the "perfect tactic" to line you coasts with sticks and stone carrying mobs to stand against tanks, it is perfectly leagal to trade anything you vcan trade in F4 I guess.

Are you saying the whole game is not already spoiled? ;)

If planned properly, we could bring our boatloads of units home, build infrastructure like harbors/markets/aquas that would not be lost in either gifting or capture, research like mad toward Military Tradition (not to make their GLib obsolete), they would inherit the GLight, and we could turn everything over to them in an orderly manner at a time of their choosing.

SABER has already shot themselves in the foot with the costs associated with unit maintenance. Just maybe Gong could keep tech parity with science farms to take on Free and/or Council. Maybe we could even arrange to stay in the game as a 1CC to do additional research. Nobody could then accuse us of being cry-baby quitters.

I understand that the warmongers would probably have no interest in hanging around while this was done, but it is an alternative for a few members of the team to merely help Gong win.

And, yes, it's a little crazy. :crazyeye: :p

I would love to have a solution where we get a flip on SABER and then gift everything to GONG. And if someone complain we paraphrase Classical Hero:

"You can't complain about the rules just because things aren't going your way, like you planned them."

I would also like to sink all Saber/Council/Free boats in sight. According to Killercane Free has max 20 warrior type strength based on GONG's average military ranking. Whether Council or Free is a feasible destruction option is very attractive to me.

donsig really did sound clueless in the resignation thread. What do we know of council military?

We know Council is also weak to us but we can't gauge based on GONG since they haven't met yet.

As posted in the other thread, let's kill council and that fellow....backstab them for all I care. How many turns for our ships to arrive? When they complain about our peace treaty, we laugh it off...gotta be evil and they asked us to not be crybabies etc...

Sounds like a plan

I'm pretty sure BABE would not have any problem with this and let's face it they're the only one's we care about anyhow.

I feel dirty right now so I'll be back after I shower...

I would prefer not to break a peace treaty, stooping to their level wont solve anything. Besides we should arrive there a couple of turns after it ends.

I'm with Simon, I don't care for breaking a treaty.

But could we gift our fleet to Gong and have THEM attack Council? In the spirit of pushing the limits of the rules, is that an exploit? Do we trust them enough for that?

First of all, this is not civ4 :p so no gifting of units. Second of all, they have no capability to use our boats since they don't have the Glight.

Good talk with Beorn, Killercane and I on a Council landing. They can't declare by peace treaty so we can keep building forces and possibly force the GLib gambit.
Any thoughts?
Spoiler :
Whomp says:
B the more i think of it we should land on council to force free to give them the lower half techs to defend themselves
Whomp says:
that will help the glib strategy potentially
Whomp says:
btw you're going to win that pbem when you decide to win...

Casey has been added to the conversation.

Whomp says:
Case--are you back?
Casey says:
yeah comp froze up
Whomp says:
i have an idea
Casey says:
whats that
Whomp says:
though we have peace with council
Whomp says:
we should land forces on them
Whomp says:
that may force free to give them the lower half techs
Whomp says:
there's nothing in the treaty that says anything about units
Casey says:
and they have to declare on you so no breaking the deal huh? magnificent
Whomp says:
i'd still like to land on free too
Whomp says:
same deal
Casey says:
have you calculated council
Whomp says:
block their shipping from gaining map knowledge and force them to trade techs
Casey says:
s military strength?
Beorn says:
low
Whomp says:
we've been strong to everyone for a long time
Beorn says:
so we know they have at most as many horses as we have MW's
Casey says:
right but you dont know how low until you compare our strength to theirs
Whomp says:
that's tough to tell but i'm pretty confident they don't have muskets
Beorn says:
lol
Casey says:
did wotan send the contacts?
Whomp says:
should we now?
Beorn says:
even if they had the money to rush and up some, it couldn't be but a handful
Whomp says:
i'm surprised Free didn't
Whomp says:
if we gift contact we'll know exactly what council has
Whomp says:
question is whether we should land first then gift contact...
Whomp says:
force their hand
Beorn says:
we land, so yeah, whatever is most spooky
Casey says:
they dont have education do they?
Whomp says:
no but free has theo
Beorn says:
most people playing civ have a good level of education
Casey says:
k then it wont matter really, you are 3 turns from landing on Council?
Whomp says:
we can get there in 3
Whomp says:
with some units
Whomp says:
that are on saber's NW coast
Beorn says:
the whole thing will take more though
Whomp says:
sure but start landing now
Whomp says:
force them to demand we leave
Whomp says:
and tell them to stick it
Beorn says:
nother option is to land in like 5-6 turns with a more cohesive force
Casey says:
are you landing in the boondocks or their core
Whomp says:
the thing is we don't even have to fight them just land and hope they share techs
Whomp says:
in a panic
Whomp says:
we could land more in 5-6 but why delay
Whomp says:
we have 12 turns of peace to build up
Whomp says:
so either they break the deal or we continue to gather might over 12 turns
Whomp says:

Beorn says:
yeah i was forgetting about the GLB slingshot there
Whomp says:
and they can't do anything about our forces landing
Beorn says:
needs to be done before the war is declared though, which is tricky
Whomp says:
so the earlier the better
Beorn says:
they might just declare right off, couldn't they?
Whomp says:
12 turns of peace treaty
Casey says:
i would if i could kill your force
Casey says:
if i couldnt i wouldnt
Beorn says:
right
Whomp says:
if they do they break a treaty and get called out in public
Whomp says:
if we get a MW win we get a GA
Casey says:
are you landing in their core or in their nether regions
Whomp says:
they can't attack
Beorn says:
kindof in between
Whomp says:
i think it's close to their core
Beorn says:
yeah it's not big but it'S not remote
Whomp says:
problem is they can't match our boats
Casey says:
that'll throw a kink in Freecouncil plans huh
Whomp says:
you'd think
Beorn says:
Freecouncil, I like the oxymoron there
Whomp says:
if you were council would you ask for powder?
Whomp says:
you may not even have salt so you'd think they'd want to know
Casey says:
yeah if they dont have it already
Whomp says:
if they do they both do
Casey says:
could we see from the screenshot if they did have salt, without us having gunpowder? any way to tell?
Beorn says:
nope
Casey says:
hmm land on both is a pretty good idea, but it takes you a while to get to Free though right?
Beorn says:
much more than 3 turns atm
Whomp says:
yeah because it's clear across the other side
Whomp says:
from where our current forces are
Beorn says:
how many defenders do we have on the front ? When landing, it's pretty much that which decides the fate of the D-Day battle for us
Whomp says:
seeing no rax in Free's capital makes me salivate though
Whomp says:
we can get our whole stack there before the end of peace
Beorn says:
it might change when they heazr about their buddies but if we work it the other way around, council could become dangerous to attack
Whomp says:
and they can march towards the capital
Casey says:
then we go to marines and whack sabre!
Whomp says:
carriers with bombers i say
Whomp says:
with destroyer escorts
Whomp says:
maybe land a paratrooper
Beorn says:
i really don't like that you can't paratrooper capture an empty city
Whomp says:
nope
