Hi,

I'm just curious. I have the Game of the Year edition of Civ III, so it only has the 16 civs that game with it. Is it possible to download the newer civs, so that I don't have to buy all of the new editions of the game? I'm not talking about pirating or anything, I just thought that the developers may have made that option available for people who have purchased one of the older editions of the game.

Nope. You have to buy at least the Conquests expansion pack to get all the civs, officially.

You *could* mod in the other civs you want, and mod in "work-alike" UUs, but most would consider that much more trouble than it's worth. Besides, the expansions fix a number of bugs, and add more stuff besides new Civs.

BTW: Welcome to CFC. :D

Thanks for the welcome :) .

I've seen a new edition: Civilization Complete (or something like this) on the shelves. It seems to me that this has all civs in it. Do you think it is worth it for me to buy this version, even though I already own civ III GOTY?

The Complete would just give you what you already have...it is just the GOTY cd, PTW cd, and Conquests cd in one box...nothing else. You should find both PTW and Conquests for cheaper individualy than the $40.00 for Complete. I am a Mac user so I do not know if you need PTW in order to play Conquests though.

To get the PTW Civs in vanilla you can install the GOTM add-ons and there's a scenario that allows you to use GOTM rules(which would allow the PTW civs in random games).

I think you just want to buy Conquests - you'll find it pretty cheap now and it has all the newer civs, lots of great bug fixes and balancing adjustments and (unlike PTW) workable multiplayer. And you will be up to the latest version which means you'll be able to participate in the COTMs and SGs.
