If the huge maps are killing your computer, try turning all animations off. I'm playing civ3 on an extremely old laptop and when the settings are turned off, it runs quite smoothly.

you would have to know the mod: Cheezy the Wiz made it so that you can only build cities on a certain terrain-type (it looks like marsh.) That's one way of keeping cities below 512 on MEGAMAPS.

Yep. Thought Mr Cheeze might have considered lettin the floodplains be city friendly. After all they are the rarest tile besides volcano and would really add to the realism factor. Even if you had to shrink the map by 2x2 to fit the adjustment

Yep. I'm planning on releasing a BETA during the spring. There's still a lot to be done. Adding graphics and writing pedia mostly.
