Post map requests here

A new Earth/Rhey map with 32 civs for beyond the sword would be cool. I think all the new earth maps are giant size which are just too large for my comp at around 1700 AD. Something based on Rhyes Earth map with 32 civs would be great.

I was about to ask for an accurate HUGE map of Aegean for BTS or Warlords, till I found this post.

Request is completely covered by the one of CMKMStephens. Sample maps already provided are perfect! It would be awesome to have this one!

The most important (at least for me) would be an as accurate as possible coastline that would make amphibious operations (in a cat chasing the mouse style) around several islands possible.

Probably the maps you requested can be found on the german forum.

Huge map of Greece and western Turkey

Rhye's Earth map for 32 Civ

The file is in the box called "Angehaengte Dateien".

I made the outline for this map long ago, but never had the time to finish it up. I still don't really have the time, so I was hoping someone else might like to finish it up. I'd love to have a huge version to play on BTS! It's just a map I made up, but (at least to me) it looks like a lot of fun to play. I'll attach the bitmap if someone is up for the task.

To anyone that does want to make it - please feel free to add mountains rivers, whatever you need, so that it feels "real" to you. I'm not a pro at that sort of thing, so I haven't added any terrain yet.

Thanks!

I just discovered your map and I would like to work on it, if you don't mind. I already created a first draft of the map with MS Paint. See the attached file. It's 132x84, imagine that every pixel is a plot, either land (green=valley, rust=hill, dark red=peak) or sea (dark blue=ocean, light blue=coast). You can tell me if it's okay or not.

I have no idea if this is even possible, but I'd like:

- An Earth map

- With every civ/leader as an option

- But where you could configure which leaders and how many civs would actually appear.

In other words, I'd like to be able to do a "custom game" on the earth map with historically accurate starting locations. Anyone know if this has been done/can be done?

Try Rhye's and Fall of Civilization, it does just that: Earth with every civ with every leader appearing at more or less historically appropriate times.

I tried the Rhye's mod that came with BTS. It seemed cool, but VERY difficult, especially when new civs just materialize out of the ether even though I'm occupying that location. That's one aspect of the game that strikes me as problematic -- the ability for a new civ to just "pop up" when, for example, the historical precedents that led to said civ's rise don't actually exist in the current game. For example, if you play the 600 AD mod as the English you may be able to land a settler somewhere in the Netherlands, or Denmark. But not too long after that, "poof!" up pop the Dutch who demand your city. Well, where the hell did they come from? Sure, if the land was already unoccupied, I could see why they'd show up. But if I'm occupying the land, shouldn't MY civ or another nearby civ be stopping them from popping up? Unless, of course, said civ is weakened by conditions that would allow a "breakaway" state to form, for example. But still, the mod doesn't QUITE do what I'm looking for.

Basically, I'm wondering if there's a way to build a "Custom Game" using the SPECIFIC Earth Map (or A specific earth map, since the official Civ one has balance issues, I think) as a selectable map, and then choose which civs are playing. IE: If I don't want to play a full 34 civ game, then I'd like to be able to get rid of one or two civs (without resorting to the world editor).

For example, what if I want to play an "Earth" scenario (like the ones that come with the game), but limit it to, say, 12 opponents, or try to play as the Sioux and keep the Europeans from landing and taking over. Or whatever. I know Rhye's mod lets you do some of this, but it has other game aspects to it that I find frustrating or just aren't my cup of tea. Plus, he doesn't model certain civs (IE: the Sioux). I can understand why (personally I think the Iroquois would've been the better choice as the BTS civ...), but I'd still like to try some different things.

You can edit civilizations, leaders and starting points by opening the map with the notepad. For instance:

BeginPlayer
Team=0
LeaderType=LEADER_MONTEZUMA
CivType=CIVILIZATION_AZTEC
StartingX=162, StartingY=48
EndPlayer

For starting points you'll need coordinates, check this thread.

As far as I can see there is an 18 civ limit in the unmodded game though so you'll have to pick which civ you want.

Interesting.

So if I understand correctly, there's no way to make a SPECIFIC map selectable in the "Custom Scenario" menu, but what you can do is pick and choose which civs you want to play against in a given game.

That's a disappointment, if true. Oh well. It's cool that you can edit the maps and such, but I wish you could play a "Custom Game" on an earth map (or any specific map of your choice) while letting the game randomize the other elements.

Once you have edited a map for starting points and civs you can use it with the "Custom Scenario" option. You can also edit options in the map (like victory conditions, barbarians, tech brokering).

Not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Do you want to set up starting locations for all 34 civs and let the game pick which one will appear in game? I haven't tried that yet.

Starting a custom game with Rhys's earth map you can have up to 18 civs (unmodded) from the 34 civs in the game at random locations (I noticed for instance that on Rhys's earth map starting locations are fixed but the civs are not so I got Tokugawa in the Andes and Shaka in Mexico).

If what you want is an earth map with 18 civs starting at their historical location, all you have to do is edit the map file with the notepad. Enter the civs you want in game and their starting locations (if for instance you want to play the Native Americans in North America). You can edit other options in the notepad or alernatively you can use the Custom Scenario option to pick the ones you want (no huts, no tech brokering, raging barbarians). The only drawback is that since you've allocated the starting points for the 18 civs you already know where they start and who the leaders are (still not a problem with one leader civs).

I wouldn't play with more than 18 civs because the diplomatic screen can get pretty messy and I can't imagine how it would look with more.

Does anyone know how to randomize leaders for a specific civ? Say I want to put the American civ on a map but I want the game to choose between Washington, Lincoln or Roosevelt.

That clears it up, thanks. :) You got what I'm trying to do -- set map (earth), max 18 civs, but the game chooses which 18 from the 34. Historical starting locations.

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a huge map (about 12/16 civilizations) that should be played (BTS) by two or three human players. These are the features I need:

- Realistic map, I mean from a geographic point of view, but totally different from Earth

- From 4 to 6 continents, one of those should be very isolated, free from civilizations (only barbarians) and with some unique resources (that are not to be found elsewhere)

- Lots of strategically interesting geographical spots: Narrow straits (like Gibraltar), long mountain ranges, isles placed in the middle of oceans... I'm looking for a match played at high strategic levels then territory should have max relevance at making strategic chooses. I especially hate that computer generated maps often lacks of mountain ranges and straits!

-the placement of the resources should be a mix of balance (no civ is to be put in disadvantage at the start of the game) and strategy, so for example there should be continents poor of oil and some areas (like Middle east) full of it

- There should be oceans huge enough to allow strategic use of naval fleets, I like naval battles!

That's all, folks! If you know there is a map to download somewhere which answers to all of these requests, tell me please! Otherwise, if there's somebody who's so kind to make it for me, I'll be grateful to him forever!

Regards!
Alessandro

Hey Solo, I am working on a mod that has both the Sioux and the Iroquois as playable civs (Natives were removed), and Israel as well. I would certainly like to have an Earth map like you are suggesting as part of it, so if someone could actually do this (and tell me how to add the Sioux, Iroquois, and Israel to the map) that would be pretty awesome.

Hello!
I'm looking for a couple of maps.
First is realistic Huge Earth map that has random starting locations and can be used as custom game/scenario map, WITHOUT ANY MODS! I see a lot of good maps but i don't one with mods...
Fixed starting locations could work too if choosing from many(default in BTS 3.17 o.O) leaders and from all civs with player+8 civs at time max.

Hmmm... now that i think i actually may have such but i allways forget to check what's available on custome scenario games... i leave this question in case someone knows a good map.

Second is a good, realistic, HUGE Mars map, pref. with custom terrain and re-colored trees and jungles to fit red/brown/rusty terrain graphics. A "terraformed" works too, if it's accurate, IE lowlands are covered with water etc.
I know there's a map of Mars around but i think it's very old, pre-BTS?

Demanding eh?

Hi there humble modders :D

I have a nice request I hope someone minds to do. I tried it myself but all this Python stuff is too much for me.

So if anyone would be so kind to create a slight modification of the standard huge 18 civ earth map for me - BIG PLEASE - with the following modifications:

1) Allow a random choice of 18 out of all (34 ?) possible civilizations from BtS (and so that the player may choose a specific one).
2) Set those civilizations randomly on the "Classic" 18 starting points of the standard earth map.
3) You send it to me (or upload it somewhere) You are done and would have my greatest sympathies and a vouchure for a free beer if it ever happens we would meet in Reallive :)

Could anyone do this please ? I find this a very interesting setting for "alternate" History scenarios - and I like the original Earth map.

I tried looking around but seemingly no one already tried making this.

Hey guys heres what I got and what I need.. I got my XXXL Earth Map but with out starting locations.. What I need is for someone to place the starting locations to allow 34 players havent been able to find an editor that could do that or I would have done it my self.. I need it for my mod and im using 33 standart BTS civs.. I just need the starting locations on the map and then ill play around with it my self till it fits my needs...

I really need 2 maps stuck together. Just make it a standard sized map that is double the height. Put mountains 10 deep between the two please. For testing my mod's mechanics.

Can you put them online here? I'll do my best.
