Post Your Empire

La Follette & with the great threat of Mexico defeated, Congress passes Presidential term limits.

I think it would be interesting to see a complete change of pace from how the last few turns were played.

Damn..Woodrow Wilson is better to gameplay, than the republican guy

The destruction of mankind in the old world..was caused by Justin Bieber and his terrible songs

A Mass suicide..the only option

Woodrow Wilson of course; as you say, he's the best for gameplay. :P

Woodrow Wilson seems interesting.

Woodrow Wilson wins by a landslide at the elections.

BUT THEN! Only 12 days after Inauguration, he dies from a stroke at age 67. His condition was kept secret from the public in fear that his state of health would hinder his votes. His vice president, Thomas Marshall, becomes president.

Thomas Marshall, Democratic. Progressive industrialization and unionization. Pro-war, pro-colonization, but pro-liberty for American citizens. Very popular as governor of Indiana. Ethical and respected, as he did not take over presidency during Wilson's secret stroke. His most favorite slogan, being the comedic type, is "What this country needs is a great five-cent cigar." Vice presidency goes to John Davis. Thomas Marshall will continue to carry on Wilson's policies, although Marshall is a much more likeable character.

First year of Thomas R. Marshall's presidency is off to a great success in all sectors. His diplomatic favoring of Argentina over Brazil thus collapsed Brazil, also losing a small amount of American airplanes to the anarchy. Dumb move?
Below you can see that the United States is opening up malls around the country. This is after Wilson's incentive for building coal plants.

Next, Marshall carried out Wilson's plan to invade Guatemala. He succeeded with little casualties and at very low cost (no airplanes were used. Perhaps risky?) He thus named the military base Fort Marshall.
His reasoning for not using planes was to protect Mayan history. He joked though, "If you want to find primitive people, you don't need to go to Guatemala to find them, you can find them just six feet under Washington."

He also finished constructing the Panama Canal.

Lastly, he has been sending colonists around the world, with south Iran and Thailand being colonized, and colonists heading towards Yemen and north Italy.

What do you think of his presidency so far? Give him a rating 1-100 with some suggestions and criticisms.

The next three years of Marshall's first term:
In 1925, the first presidential speech was given over the radio. More than half the world was united by a single voice, in which he spoke about liberty, prosperity, and achievement of happiness (in which he believed you can obtain, as opposed to Thomas Jefferson).

1926-1927 was relatively calm. Not much happened. Marshall administered the nation and made sure malls and production was a chief priority. He also prepared the navy, airforce, and army for South American invasions in 1928.
As you can see, he invaded Venezuela and Equador effortlessly and with very little casualties. He knew exactly how much he needed to succeed.

From this picture in 1928, you can see protestantism has been spread through Marshall's arguably unconstitutional approach to Americanizing Latin America through American churches, which would separate the cities from possible rejoining with Latin nations. He also created a railroad from Houston to Mexico City very quickly.

Lastly, you can see that the Wilson administration, although successful, did cost the nation some money. Marshall wants to point out that not only has he exceeded where Wilson had, the economy is booming under his leadership.

The 1928 elections will be held tonight. Give us your criticisms, remarks, and 1-100 rating of his first term.

Read all about it! 1928 Elections!

Thomas R. Marshall, Democrat. (Dropped out of race)
Imperialist. Efficient and calculative. Humorous. Pro-colonist, anti-Catholic. Fantastic orator. His cabinet has fantastic economists. Believes in world order through invasive action, if not diplomatic manipulation. Uses media (currently just newspapers and radio) to unite America and to move them to action. Politically liberal and progressive. Disdains political parties. Had a heart attack in 1925, but recovered due to White House medical care. Age 77. In his old age, it is important to consider his vice president John W. Davis, who is age 55. John W. Davis is pro-slavery, anti-womens rights, and pro-child labor. Supports a poll tax to prevent the poor from voting. Hates large government, and thus has come into very heavy conflict with President Marshall.

For Hoover and Smith, see a couple posts below.

Cordell Hull, Democrat. (Defeated by Smith)
Democratic Convention opponent to Marshall. Wants to found an organization known as the "United Nations", thus making it so no matter what happens in history, humanity shall be one race under God. Age 57.

How's your stability?
Here is a picture of Marshall's stability for the United States. Perhaps this will factor in to your vote.

What does that airplane icon do? Does it show that the city has an airport?

Yeah. By the way, my vote is for Marshall. (edit: changed it to Hoover)

Quotes from the campaign!
Marshall:
Money will accomplish much in business, love and war but it isn't worth a cent in nature. You could plant all the doubloons lost in the Spanish Main on a New England farm and you would not raise a single ear of corn the more therefor. You could take the golden eagles of America and put them in the alfalfa fields of Indiana and you would not get a single blade more of grass. The moral is that nature has her own way of fixing valuation; and her valuation is the way of return made from the soil. She does not care the least what men may say, by way of trade and barter, that she is worth. Her worth in her own scales consists in her ability to produce something that will minister to the needs, the comforts and even to the luxuries of her children.
Hoover:
My conception of America is a land where men and women may walk in ordered freedom in the independent conduct of their occupations; where they may enjoy the advantages of wealth, not concentrated in the hands of the few but spread through the lives of all; where they build and safeguard their homes, and give to their children the fullest advantages and opportunities of American life; where every man shall be respected in the faith that his conscience and his heart direct him to follow; where a contented and happy people, secure in their liberties, free from poverty and fear, shall have the leisure and impulse to seek a fuller life.
Some may ask where all this may lead beyond mere material progress. It leads to a release of the energies of men and women from the dull drudgery of life to a wider vision and a higher hope. It leads to the opportunity for greater and greater service, not alone from man in our own land, but from our country to the whole world. It leads to an America, healthy in body, healthy in spirit, unfettered, youthful, eager — with a vision searching beyond the farthest horizons, with an open mind, sympathetic and generous.

1928 Election update!

Marshall leaves the race due to unpopular straw votes and health issues. It seems his vice president, his age, and a worry of overexpansion did the most to hurt his re-election (although he never was actually elected). Nevertheless he is regarded as one of the greatest presidents behind the Founding Fathers and Woodrow Wilson. Al Smith thus takes his position running on the democratic ballot, beating Hull.

Herbert Hoover, Republican.
Humanitarian, diplomatic. Believes in larger government to help the lives of people through government food inspections and things of that ilk. Believes economics can unite the world peacefully. Easily won Republican convention without having served any political office. Vows to reduce inefficiencies in the government that he says will bring America down, as Marshall's policies will eventually pop and leave America in a Great Depression with collapsing and violent former colonies. Would help organize volunteer opportunities instead of child labor. Wants to look for a clean energy source and obsolete coal plants. Wants to enact prohibition of alcohol. Age 54.
Spoiler :

Al Smith, Democrat.
Democratic Convention opponent to Marshall. Governor of New York. Also supports efficiency in government like Hoover. Strong opponent against prohibition. Catholic. Supports the rights of women. Helped found the Tammany Hall machine that helped immigrants from collapsed civilizations make a living in the United States, although he is accused of abusing this immigrants for greed. Opponents fear the Apostolic Palace would dictate his policies. Articulate. Tactile with how he answers questions. Age 55.

"Wants to enact prohibition of alcohol."
"Supports the rights of women."
How this would influence in your history?

Al Smith

It's beginning to look decisive! Al Smith is dominating the Southwest, the South, and is winning on the swing states of Kansas and Kentucky. New York is very closest to swinging back over to Hoover. The electoral votes are Smith 4:3 Hoover.

Herbert Hoover 3
