Not a great start, and a civ with no new traits. This open SG may not be popular at all, but I'm not big fan of rerolling the start, so I'm continuing with this. It's not really a bad start: there's another BG under the hut. I'm confused because there were only 5 opponents to choose in the generator screen but the map looks large. Odd. I'm by a lake and see coast on both sides, so this might be archipelago. This could be a challenging game!

We're expansionist, so I'll settle the city, set research for the cheapest tech and then pop the hut with the worker.

Turn 0: 4000BC: Found Zimbabwe on the spot. Silly me, the borders popped the hut; I should've known that. We get a map of the area. Production set to warrior. Well, it's not a teeny island, and in fact I failed to consider that given our position we could just be on the corner of a pangea. Too early to tell. Worker NE. Duh, I also forgot I had a scout. Okay, :smoke: thinking to start this game, but I don't think I really hurt anything so far. Scout to NE hill. Change Zimbabwe to scout. Set research to Bronze at 100% (for the Impi).

1: 3950 BC: Worker mine. Scout sees a lot of nice grasslands/BG.

2: 3900 BC: Scouting

3: 3850 BC: Scout finds cost to east.

4: 3800 BC: Scouting.

IT: Zimbabwe scout-scout.

5: 3750 BC: 1st scout pops hut: settler! Hrm, there is a great city spot nearby, but it will be corrupt for quite a while. Change Zimbabwe to settler; I'll set this settler down in the good-but-corrupt location and make scouts/warriors/workers for a while.

6: 3700 BC: 2nd scout finds plains/ivory to the north. So far looking like a high-water pangea, 4 or 5 billion years and temperate or wet.

7: 3650 BC: Found Ulundi by wheat, fish, 2 BGs and creating a canal between seas, but of course very corrupt. Set to scout. Worker mine-road.

8: 3600 BC: Scouting

9: 3550 BC: Scouting

IT: Zimbabwe borders expand.

10: 3500 BC: Lux to 20%; did I miss Zimbabwe growing? No it's turn 10, but the governor tried to hire a clown for me. Fixed that. Worker finishes road, moves N. Northern scout pops hut, gets 25g. Realize I can't count and that settler will finish way before pop 3, change Zimbabwe to granary.

11: 3450 BC: Worker starts mine.

12: 3400 BC: Scouting

13: 3350 BC: North scout pops hut, gets 25g.

14: 3300 BC: Scouting

15: 3250 BC: Scouting

IT: Ulundi riots :smoke: . Hire a scientist since this city is all corrupt, anyway.

16: 3200 BC: Scouting

17: 3150 BC: Worker mine - road.

IT: Ulundi scout-scout. (May change to warrior or worker later.)

18: 3100 BC: Scouting, notice BW due in 1, needs 3 beakers so the scientist will finish it with 0% research. Set sci to 0.

IT: Discover Bronze Working. Odd that we haven't seen another civ yet; we might still be on a continent; I'd be surprised if we're alone, but just in case I start on Alphabet.

19: 3050 BC: North scout finds blue border! Can't contact yet. Change research to The Wheel and sci to 80%.

IT Zimbabwe Granary-settler.

20: 3000 BC: Move into blue borders but can't see anything. No one on F4, but Shift-D reveals: Korea! They're up Masonry and Alphabet, and we're up Pottery. They have 41g and Wines (0 extra). They only have one city?

3000 BC mini map; Zimbabwe is far SW, the other white dot is Ulundi and Korea is the blue splotch in the north.

I'll leave trade attempts up to the next player. You may want to change Ulundi off of scout since we have 3.

This is an open SG. Just post that you have it and come back with your results. Play 5, 10 or 20 turns, I don't care :) .
